Bill, another reason for Amil to not be listed in his father's will is that
the father may have already provided for him with land or other
compensation when he reached maturity and/or got married. It is not
unusual for some of the facts to not be correct on marriage applications
for many reasons. And Mrs. A.E. Schrader may be Amil's aunt who married
his name-sake uncle (Amil Edward Schrader, the older or Senior). Just some
other ways to look at the same mystery - there are possibly another few
hundred possibilities! %^) Sorry! JGW

I have a mystery on my hands. I have a copy of the marriage license of my
grandparents, Louise Alt, and Amil Edward Schrader from Terre Haute, IN,
married in Effingham, IL in 1891 and both of them signed the necessary form
stating that it was the first marriage for each of them. Then several
years ago while reading the "Personals" column in the T.H. newspaper ca
1887 I came across a reference to a Mrs. A.E. Schrader. One of the
references from Mar. 26 1886 states: "A. E. Schrader and his wife are at
the St. George Hotel on a short visit. They have many friends here who are
always glad to see them." - (Evansvills Journal). He worked for the
railroad; so he got around quite a bit. In January 1885, he moved out of
his parents house into a rented one and then there is the reference to a
Mrs. A.E. Schrader.
When his father died in 1889, A.E. was not mentioned in the will although
each of the other siblings was. Therefore, I suspect that he was disowned
by his father due to a major family squabble. It would have to have been a
divorce since a death of a spouse would never cause a family problem.
Appreciate any help.
