Greetings from VA!
Is the undertaker/funeral home of R. Smith and Co. still a viable business in
Evansville?
Does any kind soul have access to 1870 census records for Vanerburgh Co and could
look up James Davidson?
With help of Tamara, Joyce, and Oak Hill Cemetery staff, this is what I have on
Davidsons plus my Ohio records:
I have a Caroline Clendenin married James Davidson on 18 October 1841 in Warren
Co., Ohio. Caroline Clendenin was born 30 August 1819 at Twenty Mile Stand,
Deerfield Twp., Warren Co., Ohio as d/o Samuel Clendinen/Cynthia Vasa. In 1867
Samuel Clendinen died and estate papers give Caroline Davidson (wife of James) ,
residing in Evansville, IN one-eighth of liquidated estate. Family is
Presbyterian.
Oak Hill Cemetery has Mrs. Caroline Davidson died 20 August 1898 aged 78 years, 11
months and 20 days. (Which matches exactly to birth date I have from an Ohio
source.) She is buried with James Davidson, died 31 August 1877, age 61. Oak Hill
gives James Davidson birthplace as Ireland but no date.
Children of James/Caroline Clendenin Davidson (so far and I don't know what birth
order):
Sarah Jane Davidson
+Ezekial Scott Littlepage
Margarete Davidson
+Zephaniah Harrison Littlepage
Anna Davidson d. 17 July 1920 aged 70 yrs., 2 mo. 16 days -- born, Indiana
(Per Oak Hill Cemetery. She was also at same address as Caroline Davidson in 1891
and Martha Davidson and says sister Mrs. E.S. Littlepage as survivors)
Martha Davidson?
James Davidson, d. 21 July 1864, age 3 years buried Oak Hill Cemetery on same row
as Caroline and husband James Davidson.
Wm T. Davidson, d. 28 June 1926, age 62, b. Ohio (son of James?) (Obit says has
sisters Misses Mary and Henrietta Davidson and Mrs. Susie Brown.
Best regards to all,

Response to DJones Query: Davidson, Gallagher, Dunavan
I am again posting the name I am searching for in Vanderburgh County.
John Davidson b. 1858 in Indiana. Married Catherine Gallagher in Vanderburgh
County in 1878. They then moved to Union County Ky.
I have been trying to locate who John's parents may have been but I still
have had no luck. Does anyone have a John Davidson from this area that
could be a relation? I have found so few Davidson from this area.
