I am searching for information about one of my ancestors, Henry WEBSTER. The Wabash County
(IL) Biographies says, Levina WEBSTER DINNEL was " . . . a daughter of Henry and
Ellen WEBSTER, of the north of England, who went to Georgia after coming to the United
States, and afterward moved with two of Mr. WEBSTER's cousins, named EVANS, to
Indiana, where they were among the first settlers. Mr. WEBSTER was a goldsmith and cut up
pieces of money to make change. He ran a ferry across Pigeon Creek, at Evansville and
spent the remainder of his life there."
Does anyone know this family? I have spent several years trying to find any other mention
of Henry WEBSTER or the WEBSTER family there in Indiana. Was/is there a Pigeon Creek in
Evansville and was there a ferry? Where there two EVANS men who were the first settlers of
Evansville?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tim TILLYER in Escondido, CA
