Abel Lane live in Evansville from around 1875 to 1887, I believe. He then moved to
Chicago. He was a Rabbi, from Russia. His wife was Clara Kallen Lane and they had seven
children listed in the 1880 census. I have written to the synagogues and have had no
response. I have written to others who listed their names as volunteers to look up people,
but haven't heard a thing at all. The children were, Meyer, Rebecca, David, Katie,
Mary, Sarah, Jennie and Sam. The oldest three worked in Evansville as teenagers. The census
listed them as living at 702 Angle? I just want to know if anyone has any information
about this family. I don't know how they ended up in the middle of the United States?
Were there relatives who brought them there? He was a Mohel a man who conducted ceremonies
and was a skilled calligrapher, he did beautiful scroll work. I don't know if he ever
became an American Citizen? He was born around 1842 and died in 1916. This was a big
family, I don't understand how th!
ere can be no trace of them in this city. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I am
banging against the brick wall here. Thanks
