Evansville's first cemetery was located in the vicinity
of 3rd, 4th, and Vine Streets.
2nd Evansville (1st official City cemetery)
The Evansville Graveyard was between 4th and 6th Streets,
near Chandler and Canal Streets.
Angel/Gipson Cemetery
Intersection of South Green River Road and Covert Avenue.
Knight Township, Vanderburgh County, IN
Graves removed to Park Lawn Cemetery in the 1960's.
First Catholic Cemetery
Evansville's first Catholic Cemetery was on Garvin Street between
Columbia and Michigan Streets. The graves were removed to
St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery beginning in 1872.
First Jewish Cemetery
Located at the intersection of Governor and Jefferson Avenue.
Knight/Hebron Cemetery
Northeast corner of S. Green River Road
and Lincoln Ave. Around 1923, the graves were removed
to Oak Hill Cemetery and Rose Hill Cemetery in Warrick County, IN.
(A memorial exists for Isaac Knight at this location.)
