Regarding your Elikofer studio-- it was owned by Fred Sr and Fred JR from
1880 up to the 1920 census.
You will probably have to have someone check the clothing style for a
possible date.
I found this on ancestry regarding Fred A. Elikofer:
1888-1892 Evansville Directory
Fred A. Elikofer, residence at 302 Read ST; photography studio at 606
Main--between 6th and 7th St; photographer, crayons, pastels and oils, he
was also listed as a tailor at his residence.
1870 census of Evansville has Fred Elicoffer, b. Prussia, age 38-- he is
with his family and son Fred is 9, born in IN. Fred JR is the first to be
born in IN.
1880 Evansville has the Elikofers living at 304 Read St, the father is 50
(b. Germany) and a photographer, and the 19 yr old son Fred, b. IN, is also
a photographer.
There is a 70 yr old Fred Elikofer who died 3/28/1899 in Evansville-- this
is most likely the father of Fred JR.
1900 census has Fred JR with his step-mom, he was born Feb 1859, single,
lives at 15 Harriett St., is a photographer.
1910 censusof Evanville has Fred A. Elikofer, 430 Main, age 49, b. IN,
single, parents born in Germany, photographer
1920 census of Evansville has Fred with a wife, Frances E (48), b. IN, her
maiden name was Koch; Fred is 59 and his job is a theatre musician.
Fred A. died (per Browning) 9/10/1929 of a sudden heart attack. States he
was a veteran bass violinist at Loew's Victory Theatre. Burial in Locust
Hill. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Farrow, on Gum St. survives.
The marriage below most likely is the older Elikofer:

Message Board Post:
I have a photograph with Elikofer's Art Gallery Main ST S.W. OOR, Fifth
St, Evansville, IND stamped on it. Does anyone know when this art studio
was in Evansville? I would guess it was in the early 1900's. I am trying
to date and identify a family photo.
Thanks,
Missey
