Evansville had a Catholic burial ground adjacent to St. Joseph's Church on
Virginia Street. Whenever St. Joseph's cem opened on the NW side of
Evansville, the dead were disinterred from the old cemetery and reburied at
St. Joseph. While I was at St. Joe earlier this summer, the caretaker
told me that folks who had no markers at the old grave yard were put in a
mass burial grave in the new cemetery. I think that St. Joseph Cem was
open for burial in the 1870's. If anyone knows the exact year, please let
me know. Thanks. Helen Zuber Keusch

Thanks for the info. Anton Kern, my ancestor, had a child baptized at
Holy Trinity
in 1858 and was buried from there in 1863. I'm seeking any
early facts about the church, specifically where the deceased were buried.
