I have some microfilm-copied pages in my collections, each showing a particular obituary
that's of interest to me. Well, others have come along for the permanent ride, and I
thought I'd offer those up for reference here on Rootsweb.
Evansville Courier, Thursday, Jan 14, 1954
WILLIAM HERMAN DICKHAUT
, 80, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at his home on Route 2, Mt. Vernon. A farmer, Dickhaut
was a native of Posey County. He was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in
Posey County. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; son, Lawrence; and a sister, Mrs. Mary
Papenmeier, both of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call at Alexander Funeral Home after noon
Thursday. The body will be taken from the funeral home Friday morning to his home.
LEE COOMES
, 64, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at his home 805 S. Governor St. He retired in 1940
after 15 years as a routeman with the Ideal Pure Milk Co. He was a veteran of World War I
and a member of First Baptist Church and Funkhouser American Legion Post.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl; daughter, Mrs. Fred Rold; two sons, Avery and Lee Ray
Coomes, all of Evansville; five sisters, Mrs. Roy Timberlake and Mrs. Mary Blum, both of
Evansville, Mrs. Verna Rowe, Los Angeles, Mrs. Vera Leeper, San Diego, and Mrs. Hershall
Wright, Indianapolis; and brother, Jack, Troy, N.Y.
Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Boone Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas J. West
officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
WILLIAM REID CRAWFORD
Final rites for William Reid Crawford, 46, of 2008 Washington Ave., who died at 2:45 a.m.
Wednesday at Deaconess Hospital, will be a 2 p.m. Friday at Kriekhaus Funeral Home with
Rev. Richard Schwamback officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Crawford, a
painter at Seeger Refrigerator Co., was a member of Bethel Tabernacle.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie; son, Gerald Lee; daughter, Mrs. Elsie Dennis; father,
William; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Howard and Mrs. Margaret Kinder; four brothers, Raymond,
Shirley and Sam, all of Evansville, and James, New Orleans, and a grandson.
MRS. MAUDE GREEN
Funeral services for Mrs. Maude Green, 77, of 617 Locust St., who died at 8:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Deaconess Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at J. Max Lowe Colonial Chapel
with the Rev. Joseph Wick officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Surviving
are two sons; Carroll------
Sorry, but that's all the page contained for Mrs. Green. But, a partial's better
than none at all, right? :) At least you'll know exactly where to go to find the
rest of it if you're truly interested.
