HOMER W. FAUNTLeROY
Is of Hoosier birth, having been born in New Harmony, Indiana, May 5, 1866. He moved to
Evansville when but a boy for educational advantages. After his school days he was made
manager of the Western Union Telegraph Company. His aptness and proficiency soon promoted
him as operator to the branch office of the Baltimore and Ohio Telegraph Company at the
St. George Hotel, Evansville. A few months later he was sent to Pleasant View, Tenn., and,
thence to this place, operating at both places. He was the B & O's operator at the
time it consolidated with the Western Union at Madisonville. Mr. FAUNTLeROY was also
operator for the L & N, at Birmingham, Ala., and it was while working there that he
was married to Miss Hanse GOODLOE in 1888, the daughter of our well-known townsman, Henry
GOODLOE.
Mr. FAUNTLeROY moved to Madisonville in 1892, leaving a very responsible position with the
Birmingham Iron furnaces. He was compelled to resign on account of ill health. A few
months ago, he purchased the Madisonville Steam Laundry which he has since successfully
operated. Our subject is brim full of energy and business, and never undertakes anything
at which he is afraid to use his own hands. (Source: Madisonville Hustler, Fri., Feb. 24,
