Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for the reply, how interesting. Have been working through all the
databases collecting clues. Capt John H Morris probably had the house built around 1860
or so.
It was at 518 Upper Water St originally. It is called The Landing or The Landmark?
Another nice gal posted the address and phone number for me. A man named Jim Williams
must have had some research done on the house when he ran the Restaurant around 1994. I
think he has a place called Kirbys catering I may give him a call, I would love to have a
photo if it is not too much trouble.
His daughter Grace married Sidney Jacobi son of Captain Otto Jacobi. You had posted
the photos of the old Jacobi house. You have been so kind and got some info for me on
Otto Jacobi. I just need to get to Evansville and do some research, there is so much I
know is just waiting for me to discover. Capt John owned the Uncle Buck and the Grace
Morris and a tow called the A & L No 1 I believe the company was called the Green
River Packet Co he also had Green River coal. I just love all the post cards and photos
on the web site. You have done such a wonderful job, it the best I have seen. Oh by the
way the link to the 179 photos is not working just thought you would like to know.
Well Chris if it is not too much trouble to get a photo I would pay you for the cost and
mailing and buy you a lunch via e-lunch. Thanks again for such a super job.
