I continue to hit a brick wall, and am asking for your assistance. My Martz family
immigrated to Vanderburgh country from Alsace-Lorraine in ~1852. My Stork (Storch,
Storck) family immigrated to Vanderburgh county in ~1860 from Bavaria. I cannot find
immigration records nor the ship on which either family arrived. In that time period,
into what port did immigranats to Indiana enter? Into New Orleans, and then up the
Mississippi? into NY city? To Canada? Philadelphia? Without their passage into the US and
to Indiana, I don't have the name of the town from which they immigrated, and my
general searches are not finding them. The Storks were cigar makers. The Martzes made
wagon wheels and carriages. Both families were also farmers. Please give me a history
lesson. Many thanks for your assistance.
