Well I didn't know it was local either until I moved away. I know the rules
of the game, even now after many years. I was so good at it that my mom
used to take me to this place where large groups of people played in a sort
of tournament. I usually won. Seems like it might have been on Weinbach or
Riverside. Somewhere around there anyway.
I'm more curious about the origins of the game and why its so local. I
wonder if a Germanic group brought it over from Europe, or if someone local
invented the game. But I guess no one really knows by now. I've been in
Missouri (now), Tn, and Texas. Never found anyone who knew the game.

Yes Linda,
My mother and father used to play clabber in Evansville when they were
newlyweds (mid 1940's) A few years before my mother died, she tried to
find
out about the origin and rules of clabber. She couldn't find anyone that
had
heard of it (here in California)
I just did a google search for "clabber" and on
answers.com, it says that
the game is played in Southern Indiana, especially Evansville. I had no
idea
that it was such a "local" game. That site also mentions the rules of the
game.
