Looking for information about my ggreatgrandfather Mark Wheeler and his
family. Peyton arrived in Vanderburgh/ English Settlement/ McCutchanville /Blue
Grass about 1819 with his sons Mark, Richard, and Joseph. They were either
Scots Irish or from Oxford England and arrived with Capt. John Evans. Mark, Mark,
and Joseph were Methodist ministers (I think Methodist Episcopal). Mark's
sons Henry & William were also Methodist ministers.Questions:
1. Were they related to HQ Wheeler, partner in the law firm of Ingle,
Wheeler and Iglehart? Hard not to believe since Mark Wheeler widower, married first
Sarah Cowle and then Betsey Iglehart. What was HQ's name?
2 Did they have anything to do with the underground railroad? McCutchan is
thought to be a conductor. And I thought the Methodists were also involved.
My ggrandafather is Robert Wheeler, son of mark W. and Betsy Iglehart;
married first Anna Ruston and then Harriet; fought in the Civil war and built a
soddie in Kansas. I have a ton of information about him and the family.
My family tree with this info is at:
