Browning shows Aaron Cox
Name: COX, AARON
Date of Death: Sunday, January 09, 1944
Age: 79
It lists his son Virgil as a survivor. And looks like he is buried at Oak
Hill Cemetery, section 62, lot 28, grave #2. Did not see anything for Rosa.

Searching for the graves of Aaron and Rosa Harmon Cox.
Aaron listed in 1900-1920 census as various ages. The 1900 census listed
him as being born in 2.1859 - age 46, 1910 listed as age 53 and 1920 age 49.
Rosa/Rose/Rosie b. 8/1874 and died bef. 1/1920 Evansville, IN. In the 1920
census the youngest son Virgil was listed as being 9 years of age, so Rosa
died sometime after he was born.
Aaron and Rosa had 5 known children: Hazel, Eva, Harry, Minnie and Virgil.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

They have moved and are being upgraded so that both husband and wife are linked together. Currently only earlier 1920's records will now show both.

Jo-Ann,
"Special Collections" is the second floor or genealogy department. They have microfilm of
many resources and if you ask the person working they will give you a tour of what they
have on the second floor.
Virginia
Virginia: Thanks for clueing me in about Willard having the naturalization
records; as many times as I have researched there, I never saw them on the
shelves and never thought to ask for "special collections".
Thanks much; now that we are back in L.A., I'll have to phone.
Jo-Ann

The Index I have does not show him. I check all the Gs.
My Great-great-great-grandfather came to America in 1833 and he was not naturalized, so of course he is not in there either.
I know a lady with the maiden name Geiselman in Evansville. She is in my family tree.
Please contact me at ddiefenbachhines(a)aol.com I don't want to give the info on-line. She's in her 80s. She's may have some info.

Would there be any records of naturalization for a later period, like 1850-1880?

Jo-Ann,
You are correct. The microfilm of Vanderburgh County's naturalizations is at Willard
library. You may call them at 425-4309 ask for Special Collections, as the phone is
answered downstairs.
Regards,
Virginia
I may be wrong, and someone correct me if I am, but I think early
naturalization records must be obtained from the residential county, not the
feds...anything before 1906 anyway.
Maybe someone can give us that address.

I need help finding naturalization records for my ancestor.
John F. MOELL
born 4 May 1837 in Wuertemburg, Germany
died 18 Nov. 1923 in Evansville, Indiana.
They came to the USA in 1837 and bought land in 1839 in Vanderburgh co, Armstrong township.
His father's name was JACOB MOELL sometimes mispelled as Moall, Mill, Mehl, etc. The census records are WRONG. one says naturalized in 1840, another in 1845 and another in 1850. Can anyone please help me find these records?
Thanks,
JJ

You might want to look in Oak Hill cemetery as that is a relatively old cemetery with some Civil War soldiers buried there. You might want to also check with some of the local churches out there that may also help.
