Helen,
Take a look at this link:

I requested some Individual Deceased Personnel Files from the Army about 7
years ago. I did not get a speedy response but I did get the file. For me
it was not the "mother lode" of information that the link (above) suggests
but it might be able to clarify (between the two stories) the cause of death
for you.

Hi-- I was having problems getting this to go through last night and earlier today, now it seems to be going through. Anyway I was wanting some suggestions as to where I can go next-- below is my first note (hopefully now it won't appear several times on the mail list):
Hi, Another person and I are trying to find information on how a relatative died in WWII-- we know his name, date of death-- Sept 21, 1944, he was in the 26 division, 104 infantry. He is buried at St. Laurent, Colleville, (Normandy) France. He was a first LT, and one story is that he stepped on a mine while leading his men on a maneuver, another story is he was playing basketball and hit by lightning. He did leave a very young son, who married-- and I am trying to help the wife find the correct story. She said she wrote for records and was told they burned. I do have an obit, but it doesn't give a story of how he died. What else can be done? Thanks so much.

Do you know the birth year for Jacob or his father? I find some in 1870 and 1880 in IN. I also find some in IL. An age would be helpful. Maryjane

I am searching for a Bohleber/Bolever/Bolivar/Boleaver that came to Indiana in 1855.
The stories go that my GGrandfather Jacob and his father left Baden went to Amsterdam or Hooland and snuke on a ship to America. The story never mentioned landing (staying in New Orleans or any other city just arriving in Indiana. I have found records of him and my GGrandmothers marriage he is listed as J.B. Boliver, on his enlistment in the 35th Indiana he is Boleaver, on his pension he is Bolaver, on my GGrandmothers death cert, after his death she is Bolivar, I have not found any record of him and have no idea that what his fathers name was, there never was a mention of his mother only a further story of him and a female cousin getting kinapped by the Indian's and waiting until the Indian's were drunk to escape with their gold (which they buried)...does any of this sound familiar.
I have spelled it Bohleber because that is the proper German spelling but americanizing kinda got the spelling confusing for searches. He never returned to Indiana after the War, he married my GGrandmother who was from Alabama and they lived in Mississippi and settled and died in Arkansas.
Any help would be so greatly appriciated. I have ordered the military records from the national archieves, but any cousins etc would be great. This is the only side of my Dad's family that we know, His mother's we don't know who his dad is nor do we even have a hint, so this is rather close to our hearts.
Thank you

That is a possibility... I certainly wouldn't throw anything out the window. I've learned too much to do that. I tell you what. My roots came from Huntinbgurg and I spend a lot of time up there during the spring and summer months. It's an hour's drive from me, but when I get up there next, I will see what I can find for you. Who knows. Maybe your ancestors will lead me to my elusive ones. :)

Hello,again...I just went to the browning website that you posted and found Lucille's husband Edgar L. Schroer listed as being buried in the Fairmont Cemetery, Huntingburg,Indian. I would assume that Lucille is probably there, too. Do you agree?

No rush. Thanks again for all of your help. Look forward to hearing from you in the spring. My email is mfrgky(a)gmail.com if you'd rather use that instead of posting the photo to this message board. Either is OK with me.

It's not a problem. A photo is going to have to wait until spring, so I hope that's not a big deal. I live in Newburgh (across the river from Henderson), so I don't get over to Kentucky much, but will get to it just as soon as it warms up! Glad I could be of some help.

Just read your further information about the location of the cemetery. I'm not familiar with Henderson County, Ky so don't know if it's out of your area. Don't worry about a photo if it is. Thanks again!
