I am a relation to the Helfert family out of Vanderburgh County Indiana. I do not have a Mary listed. But I know the came over from Prussia. I have Barabara, Valentine, John, George and other Helferts. I would be surprised if your Mary was not a relation of mine.

Hi, the Browning funeral home Genealogy Site at http://browning.evcpl.lib.in.us/ has Hoskinson funeral cards including her Grandfathers. I would visit the site. The card lists a daughter, Thelma Strassweg (sp) who would be your friends aunt. Perhaps, she is still alive and in the phone book. Anyway, I would visit the Browning site and see whatelse shows up. Browning also has a local history database. The button is listed on the left side of the screen. Perhaps, that database contains some information. Anyway, good luck and let me know if you find something.

Have your friend try www.zabasearch.com for the brothers. Its great if you know the state the person is in.
It sometimes lists the year the persons were born and gives addresses and phone numbers. I found 2 kelleys and 7 Michael.

Hi folks,
I am forwarding this to you-- first time I had heard of it. It is a response from the Wayne CO., IL mail list. Some person had written in telling a tablecloth was found with a handwritten note saying it was used at his gg grandfather's infair dinner in 1848. The gg grandfather was from Wayne County, IL, so I thought maybe it was something done in that part of the country that I am not familiar with. Below is the response-- I had never heard of it, and it may or may not have been a custom here in Dubois CO with all the German immigrants. It may have been a prevalent in areas with a high number of Brittish Isles immigrants.
It doesn't say whether the married couple was present, but since the honeymoon thing seems to be from the 1900's, the married couple most likely was present. Scroll on down and have a nice day. Helen Zuber Keusch

Subject: Re: [ILWAYNE] Infair Dinner
"Infare- alternately known as "infair" or "enfair" (from an old Scottish or Middle English custom). In a tradition dating back to the early 1800s, the bride's family gave a bridal feast the day of the wedding and the groom's family hosted a
wedding breakfast the day after. This breakfast was called an "infare."
It provided an occasion for family, wedding party, and out-of-town guests to visit and review the previous day's festivities. Travelers then departed, taking with them the warmth of hospitality. The rehearsal dinner is today's version of the infare. Many people may have never heard of the term infare, yet are quite familiar with the tradition. In the 1880s, it was an American custom for the bridegroom's parents to host an infare, or a feast, on the day following the wedding. Today, this custom has evolved into a Sunday brunch intended to give out-of-town guests more opportunity to visit with
family, friends, and other wedding guests before returning home."

I inadvertently trashed your email. Did I send you the email address for
the person I found that is a descendent of Martha Damron Mayer? If I
haven't, please email me directly and I'll send it to you.
Maryjane
Mike,
I never heard what denomination, and I wouldn't really pursue it except his brother, Brooks Damron was a minister also. Brooks' obit gives the details so I will go back through my records to check on which denomination he ministered to.
Virginia,
I do think a trip to Evansville is in order, but that won't be until we get the crops harvested. A day at the Willard Library will probably benefit me in a lot of ways. I will make a note about the old church records.
thank you so much
Paulette
Paulette,
Willard Library has old church records on microfilm for use in the library. You might want to use the City Directories which are also on microfilm at Willard to check for your ancestor and see if it lists a denomination.
Regards,
Virginia
Mike,
The funeral cards are a huge help, but I'm beginning to think that there are no descendants left in the Evansville area. John M. had 2 families (wife: Lucinda) and I am descended from the 1st family (wife: Mary Forbes). We are a large group, but I really hoped to locate someone from the second family.
We were given to believe that John M was a minister, do you know of any records that would be available for research in Evansville?
Paulette
Mike,
I did find 4 Damrons that are in my database. And the info from Brownings is really great. If only all funeral homes would provide that kind of info online... my searching would be simplified!
Actually, Evansville is very research friendly. I do appreciate that.
Paulette
