Thanks for all your work. It is quite probable that he did not seek citizenship. Reason for doubting 1880 is his daughters (all deceased) insisted that it was 1874. I agree it was most likely after the census in 1880, but would like to find something concrete. Thanx again.

Message Board Post:
Hi, I grew up in Evansville, but my ancestors came earlier from Warrick Co. I have no connection with your family. I enjoy doing research and I do it all by computer. I now live in Sidney, OH which is about 35 miles north of Dayton on I - 75. I searched extensively for immigration information for him, but the Ellis Island records don't begin until 1892 and anything prior to that is hit and miss. The naturalization papers do mention the immigration date. Have you come across those? I'm not sure why you doubt the immigration year of 1880. In the 1900, 1910, and 1920 it is reported as 1880 which makes it more likely that's the correct year. I did notice that in 1900 and 1910 census it says he was naturalized, but in 1920 he's reported to be an alien and not naturalized. It is possible that he never sought citizenship.
Maryjane

He is buried at Tupman Cemetery.
I compiled a book of all the tombstones. I thought maybe I'd check my books and there he is.
He does have a tombstone. I has Absalom B. Pearce 1836-1916
If you are interested in one of these books contact me direct. There are 5 Pearces buried there with tombstones.

Amy,
I have over 22,800 names (some cross-referenced) of burials at Locust Hill Cemetery. I do not show him buried there.
I would suggest you contact the Vanderburgh Co. Health Dept. and for $3.00 they will do a genealogy search. They charge $11.00 for a death certificate, the search is less expensive but it has more info.
Any questions email me ddiefenbachhines(a)aol.com

First I should tell you I have a brother in Evansville. My sister-in-law
was a Lutterman. That is why I had an interest. Let's leave it at that.
I lived in Evansville fromn 1933 to 1956. My main genealogy interest there
is my wife's Maternal Grandfather, Reinhard Pohl. I have info on his first
marrriage in 1885 and much data after that.but cannot find anything prior to
that date. I am told he immigrated in 1870's but that is all I know. Also
told that he was involved in starting St Johns UCC and that there are old
records of that church at Willard Library. Have not been to Evansville in
over a year so have not been to Willard.
I also am interested in Maddens and Fishers of Bluff City and Hebbardsville
Kentucky (Henderson Cty) and have much info on them. Just a lot of loose
ends to gather. Like where are the Maddens buried . Stripper mines have
apparently played havoc with cemeteries.
Is your husband related to the Heerdink's that had farms on Washington Ave
in Evansville. /do you live in Evansville?
Carl

Rheinhard/Reinhart/Reinhardt/Reinhard immigrated in 1880, probably arriving
