Jack Myers and wife Elvera Grabert Myers go to my church, St. Mary, in downtown Evansville. She just died within the last two weeks.

I'm not sure my message got through. My Irish family was married at
Assumption, which no longer exists. I found the Willard Library and the
local diocese to be most helpful. My family name was Ryan.

In the 1850's-- Holy Trinity had a heavily German population, it is
there today, but not the old church as it burned many years ago. My g
grandparents were married at Holy Trinity in 1856. St. Mary's and
Assumption Cathedral may have been there at the same time. Those records
are at Willard Library and they are nice to help. Helen Zuber Keusch

My wife's ancestor was editor of this German-language newspaper when it was forced out of business in April 1918 due to anti-German sentiment. I'd like to contact someone who's familiar with the Demokrat to learn more of the specifics regarding the paper's closing. I've tried the Courier and the local universities, to no avail, and I live a long way away from Willard. Thanks.
