Bryan:
my wife just recently found your posting. I sent a longer message to your prodigy e-mail (I'm not sure if you still use that address).
I am the great-great-great grandson of Adam Jenner and the great-great grandson of Jacob Jenner. I have information that will help fill out the family tree. I look forward to hearing from you. Your cousin, Richard Osborne

Chris,
Thank you very much for your two messages. They are wonderfully helpful. In fact, they hit the nail on the head and have helped to untangle quite a thorny not. Lee Mayer was orphaned, and I had no idea what the story was. With your information as the final piece of a puzzle, I now know that Rosina Kahn (daughter of Clara Gumberts Kahn and Solomon Kahn) had a child, Lee. After Rosina's death, her husband Samuel Mayer (later Meyer) remarried Henrietta/Helena/Helen Loewenthal, widow of William Loewenthal, combining two families and several children into one family. When Samuel died, Helena was twice widowed. Lee seemed to disappear off the map, but now I know he died in 1881. I am most grateful.
Thanks too for the pictures of Rose Hill Cemetery and the stone for Sarah Mayer. I know you oversee the cemetery project in Vanderburgh County, but do you have a special interest in the Mayer family?

Since you mentioned that he may not be living, I looked up his name at the Browning Genealogy Obituary Search at http://browning.evcpl.lib.in.us/
There is a James Leo Johnson, But I can't be sure that he is the one you're looking for.
You could also search for your parents marriage record at http://www.willard.lib.in.us/marriage/index.cgi You can print out a form and order a copy of the record for $1.00.

Really there are 4
Rose Hill Jewish Cemetery is on Stringtown Road
Mt. Carmel Jewish Cemetery is on First Avenue.
Mt. Sinai Cemetery is on Rodenberg Road and another
right across the street is refered to as Mt. Vernon Jewish Cemetery
The Old Jewish Cemetery was at Jefferson and Governor
and then moved to Rose Hill on Stringtown.
I have a photo of the tombstone for Sarah Mayer (1836-1894)
online here:

I can't make out the names behind hers. Seemed like it had quite a few Mayer's there.

There are 2 Jewish Cemeteries in Evansville. Neither is listed in the "yellow book". One is on Stringtown Road near the country club. The other is only a mile or two away on First Avenue near Lloyd Pool. Perhaps someone at Adath B'Nai Israel Temple (812-477-1577) would be able to help with records from these two cemeteries.
If this would be a long distance call for you, email me and I'll be glad to check for you.

I would like to find out if Samuel Mayer and / or Lee Mayer were buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Evansville. Mayer is sometimes Meyer and even Meyers. Samuel Mayer was an early Jewish settler of Evansville and Lee was his son. Samuel had two wives, Rosina Kahn and then Helena Loewenthal.
Any one's help or advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance.

I have been looking for information on a Daniel Hutchinson (b abt 1804 Hamden, OH) who married on Feb1833 to Amanda Pratt (b 5Dec1808 Canaan, NY). I have no children for them after abt 1836. I don't know when Amanda died and wonder if she may have died before 1838 and Daniel remarried. Who are the children for your Daniel Hutchinson?
Seeking contact with descendants of Charles B. Stinson who married Mollie
Simons 15 may 1879; Dewitt Stinson whose wife's name was Effa (surname
unknown). They had 2 known children: Charles Stinson, Maybelle Stinson who
married a man whose last name was Surface about the 1880's. Also Stella
Stinson who married Alexander Craig 12 Sep. 1900 in Evansville, Indiana.
These are children of my grandfather, John B. Stinson's first family. He
married my grandmother in Clarksville, Texas and had 6 more children. I
have almost 40 years of research on the Stinson family of Evansville,
Indiana to share.
