Hi-- I am trying to track down some Herrmans. My g grandfather's first
wife was Christina Bangert. She had a sister-- Anna Barbara Bangert who
married A. Charles "Karl" Herman/Hermann in July 1857 at Holy Trinity in
Evansville. This was a double wedding with Christina and Jacob Zuber (my
g grandfather). Christina died 1877 and is buried at St. Joseph, IN.
There is supposedly a picture of the wedding that is in the Herman family
somewhere. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. Helen Zuber

Hi Mary Jane,
This is cousin Bob in Florida. I saw your posting and thought I would
reconnect with you.
I hope you are doing well. We are enjoying the weather here.
Have you connected with Aunt Sylvia lately? I haven't talked with her for
several months.
My brother, Charlie, was here for a short visit last week. They were on
their way to Disney.
I don't know if you have heard, but Melvin Lewis' wife, Susie, died
recently.
Stay in touch and let me know more about the RAOGK work that you are doing.
Cheers!!
Cousin Bob

I can't find a marriage record for my gr-grandparents,
Roscoe Fletcher Myers (1899-1971)
and
Lissie Ann Lilly (1897-1965)
They were supposedly married February 19, 1918.
Place unknown.
Both of their families were living in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co.,
Indiana at that time. He was originally from Worthington, Greene
County, Indiana and she was from Smith Mills, Henderson Co.,
Kentucky. They moved with Chrysler to the St. Louis/St. Charles
Missouri area in the late 1950's and returned to Henderson, KY in the 1960's.
Their first child was born in 1921. On the 1930 census the age
at first marriage calculates that they were married about 1918.
His Enlistment (Feb 1918) and Discharge (Dec 1918) papers
state that he was single when he enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
My grandmother said that while they were in St. Louis, Lissie
once mentioned that they were not legally married. (1950's - 1960's)
I don't know if they remarried in Missouri or Illinois.
I haven't checked any marriage indexes for those two states.
They attended 1st Christian Church and Olivet Presbyterian.
I can't find them in marriage indexes for Vanderburgh or Greene Counties in Indiana.
I believe I've checked Henderson County, Ky before, but I
can't recall.
I can't find a marriage record for them on Ancestry.com
Thanks for any help you can give.
Chris

We have recently upgraded our website pages to make navigation somewhat faster and more intuitive. The Indiana atlas series is a useful research resource for those of you interested in early Indiana places and names:
http://www.har-indy.com/in_map/in_index.html
Each Atlas CD consists of a series of either 8 or 9 bordering counties making up 1 of 11 Zones that depict all of Indiana's 92 counties. Each Zone Atlas contains high resolution scanned images of vintage 1876 county maps that are presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).
Each county map may include the following 19th century features:
* roads, railroads and canals
* cities, towns and villages
* post offices and government sites
* one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries
* rivers, streams and ferries
* industrial sites, furnaces and mills
* early homesteads and farms
* and much, much more
The Historic Atlas of Indiana series is an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Indiana places. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas; and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary.
The Indiana CD's are also available for purchase on eBay at by following this link:

www.tndeathcertificates.com is a site I heard about on another forum a few days ago a note about getting death certificates from Tennessee and I tried it out and sent one order. Looks like they are legitimate and was I surprised when the certificate got here just 3 days after I ordered it. I know a lot of us in Vanderburgh County have family that came up to Indiana from Tennessee to find jobs and thought I'd pass this along to anybody else that might be interested.

Hello-
I dont know how many children Morton COMPTON and Laura MOBLEY had. But I do know that they had my great-grandmother, Lucille COMPTON. In fact, I am currently looking for the family of her first husband, Stuart MANSE. (Any knowledge about his family is greatly appreciated) Lucille COMPTON was born on 30 Jul, 1888 in Evansville, IN. She died on 14 Sept, 1973 in Cincinnati, OH. I will give you the web site with a legible picture of her death certificate if you would like it.
All that I know about Morton COMPTON is that his parents were Sally UNKNOWN (b. 1833) and G.W. COMPTON (b.1827).
As for Laura MOBLEY, there are two very extensive and useful online family trees (one for each side of her family).
Her father's side is covered at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=indianamobley&...
And her mother's side is covered at:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=:2456598&id=I5...
I hope that I helped!
Sincerely,
Alex Betts

Hi!
I am a descendent of Henry Schmitt who was born in 1844 and is shown with his family on the 1880 census. His wife was Elizabeth Fisher born about 1846. They had five children John, Joseph, Mary, Henry JR, and Anna.
We are hoping to be able to get any earlier information on the family and if they were born in German town Vanderbuegh. We are also hoping to find out more about Henrys parents Leanard and Mary Schmitt who were living with the family in 1880. All we have on them is that Maria was from Barvaria and Leanard Darmstadt Germany. They both would have been born about 1809.
Thank you for taking the time to read this rather long query.
And thank you for any information you might have about this family.
