Marsha and Mike
I have a William L. ROSE, son of Joseph Rose and Alsey Oglesby listedin my data. Perhaps this is the William Rose you are looking for Marsha. My records show he married Nancy A. Upton, on May 2, 1861 in White Co., IL.
William is listed in the 1850 census of White Co., IL with sister Mary E. Rose and brother George W. Rose in the family of Joseph Rose and his second wife, Alsey Venable. His first wife aparrently died before 1847. Joseph and Alsey Venable had at least seven or eight additional children.
This Joseph was a son of Daniel and Patsy Rose and a grandson of Joseph Rose and Elizabeth Evans.
If I can be of any help please let me know.
Bill

I'm a decendant of Joseph Rose, through his son Jesse. If your William was born in 1840, he would not be a son of Joseph, but likely a grandson, or great-grandson. Joseph would have been about 80 years old, in 1940. Joseph did have a son named William who was born in the late 1700s. The Joseph Rose family did move to Southern Illinois, and settled in the area around the present county line between Hamilton and White Counties. This was near the town of Springerton. I would say your William's relationship to this family is probable, based on the common Vanderburgh County / White County connection. Also, the name William implies a potential connection. Possibly named after the older William. I do not have info on the children of two of Joseph's four sons, which unfortunately includes William. However, I would be willing to share what info I do have on this Rose family.

I have located the 1870 census record of Madison Traylor/ Trayler while in prison in Clark Co., Indiana and am attaching the image to this message.
About three weeks ago there was a great site of the Locust Hill and Oak Hill Cemeteries and who was buried in them. Is that still online? If so, can someone give me specific walk-thru instructions on opening it?? I am having problems finding it and thought I had it bookmarked. Thanks. Helen Zuber Keusch

Thanks for the reply. I need a mixture of births, deaths, marriages of the line for John M. Gleichman and Emily (Anna) Rahm. I have quite a bit on them but need filling in.
I could e-mail you direct a file of my Gleichman information and perhaps you could fill in, make corrections and return. If you would like any information on Emily's siblings, I would be happy to supply you. You are the only other person from the Gleichman line that I have had contact with. Ellen was going to send me some, but I guess she couldn't find her copies.
Feel free to e-mail me direct.
Thanks again,
Dawn

Thanks Chris, for your response. I think I have the suspect email fixed
now. I thought maybe there was a story in the paper about the train wreck.
Where do I write for a death certificate? All my uncles, the children of
Luther Clark, are dead now and I am trying to put their lives together in a
story to hand down to their grandchildren. If I can find out why these two
persons were in Evansville, it may help me to find where Luther Clark came
from: who his parents were etc. I had not know any thing at all about the
state of Indiana in relations to my family before this week. Maybe my
grandparents had relatives there. I surely hope to find out. I do have
the copy of the census, thats all. Thanks again to you and the list.

You have Earthlink Spam blocker turned on.
I'll look in the newspapers for something about the train accident.
You can also get a copy of his death certificate. It probably won't
tell you much more than you already know.
I don't know much about about the Board of Guardians home. Details
of incidents involving minors are hard to find. The 1920 census shows
Orville Clark was an inmate and was 10 years old as of Jan 7, 1920.
I can send you a copy of this if you don't already have it.

Hello List. I didn't get much response about my Uncle Paris Kermit Clark
who had the train accident on July 18, 1933. He also had his legs cut off.
May I also ask if anyone could help me find info about an census article
found from Vanderburg CO. in 1920. It is about Orville J. Clark, age 10 0r
11, held as an inmate at Board of Guardians in Evansville. It happened at
a time when Eliza Campbell remarried to a very strict minister after the
death of husband Luther Clark. Orville couldn't get along with step father
and ran away from home. Could anyone please help me find some info about
that incident. I would surely appreciate any help with these two incidents
in Evansville. Elaine, Waverly, Ohio

Hello Kottal,
I am from Denmark, Odense.

Dear List. I have an uncle who was killed in Evansville, Indiana in a
train accident. The date was July 18, 1933 and his name was as above. He
was only about 28 years old and had become a "hobo"; searching for himself.
He was a very attractive person and was homosexual. The accident happened
while he was trying to hop onto the moving train. It cut his legs off.
His parents were Luther Clark and Eliza (Lida) Campbell Clark. Paris was
born in KY and buried in Bessemer, Alabama. I was told that there was
probably a news paper article on the happening. Could anyone help me find
it or information from a death index. I sure would appreciate it. Lana,
Waverly, Ohio.
