Surname: BUECHER, AUERT
-------------------------
I have 2 relatives with occupation, miner, Ingleside Mine, Evansville,
Vanderburgh Co, IN, ca. 1864-1892. Would anyone have access to company
records to confirm dates of employment?
1. BUECHER, Philip K., employed around 1864?-1880?
2. AUERT, Fred, [Philip's step-son] employed around 1875?-1895?
What about a record of serious accidents in the mine? Since Fred Auert
died very young, I wonder if he could have died in an accident at work?
Amanda, here is the letter that was posted in June, don't know if they
are still offering the 1870 census book. I placed my order in June,
but still don't have it.

Pre-publication orders were accepted starting in June
with an expected publication/distribution date this fall.
Well, fall is almost over and here is the only thing I've
heard about when the book will be delivered is:
"Chris,
Karin Kirsch is making the final checks on the work - spelling,
index, etc. and then it will go to the printer. Lots of personal things
have suddenly interferred with her getting that done in a more timely
manner. Hopefully it is at the printer's. Then we are talking a week to
two weeks depending on how busy they are.
"Hi, Chris
The latest I heard is that Part 1 of the book will be published in November.
Will forward any more information I receive about this book
to the list.

8 December 2000
SPECIAL EDITION
-- Free Access to All Ancestry.com Subscriber Databases
through December 21
============================================================
FREE ACCESS TO ALL ANCESTRY.COM SUBSCRIBER DATABASES
============================================================
Here's the opportunity you've been waiting for! Ancestry.com is
offering free access to all of its databases through
December 21. This is your chance to see why more than 270,000
researchers have chosen to subscribe to Ancestry.com in their quest
to discover their family's history.
Included in the offer is access to the images of original census
records that Ancestry.com recently began posting. These top-quality
images represent a more true-to-life depiction of the records and are
in most cases better than the original in readability.
Ancestry.com's Images Online are scanned in 256 shades of gray to
allow for variations in tone, as opposed to the less expensive method
of bi-tonal technologies used by competitors. The entire set of U.S.
Federal Censuses is expected to be online by spring 2001. A year's
access to these images will only cost current Ancestry.com members an
additional $39.95, as opposed to competitive offerings that in recent
interviews quoted impending subscription costs at as much as $99!
In other words, for $99.90 ($59.95 regular subscription + $39.95
Images Online subscription)--which is the price competitors are
charging for census only--Ancestry.com members will get access to the
census Images Online in better form, plus access to all of
Ancestry.com's other offerings. These offerings include such landmark
databases as the "PERiodical Source Index (PERSI)," the Biography and
Genealogical Master Index (BGMI), the American Genealogical-
Biographical Index (AGBI), the 1890 Census Reconstruction Project,
the Civil War Research Database, and Slave Narratives, just to name a
few.
But that's not all. Ancestry.com has been adding databases at a
record-breaking pace and is on target to have more than 1 BILLION
records online by the end of the year.
Recent additions include:
--- "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33"
(see a sample entry at:
http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/2071.asp)
--- The New York City police census of 1890
--- 1910 Miracode indexes for Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia
--- Statewide vital records indexes for a growing number of states
--- New York's naturalization petition index of 1907-24
--- Iowa cemeteries
--- And much more!
Now for a limited time, new members of Ancestry.com will get $10 off
the price of an annual data subscription, giving you a year's access
to the No. 1 genealogical site on the Internet for only $49.95. And
as an added bonus, we'll include a FREE Ancestry Reference Library
CD-ROM (a $49.95 value itself!), which includes 15 genealogy
reference books to help you research like a pro!
We're confident that once you have gotten a taste, you won't want to
be without continuous access to our site!

Hi,
I am trying to find information on my g grandfather, Jacob Zuber.
Jacob was born abt 1832 in Lorraine, France (so the story goes) and came to
this country as a stow-away to avoid the French draft when he was 18. He
married Christiane Bangert in 1857 in Vanderburg Co and they lived north of
Evansville in the Darmstadt area. Christina died about 1877 and is buried
at the St. Joe Cemetery in St. Joseph, IN. Jacob and Christina had about 8
children. He and his family moved to Wayne County, IL, where he married
Hannah Gutekunst. Hannah's parents were Gottlieb Gutekunst and Hannah
Richards and they were from Baden-Wurtemburg, Germany. Hannah's last name
was Anglizised to Goodart which is what Gutekunst means in English. Hannah
had been married to Alfred Anthis and married Jacob after Alfred died.
Hannah and Jacob had one living son, Louis Zuber, in 1882 in Wayne County,
IL. Hannah and Jacob are my great grandparents. And Jacob had a half
brother, Anton, who lived with him and was older than him. I would like
any information regarding these families. I know a bit on Christina and
Hannah, but am hoping to find out more about Jacob. And there is the
possiblity that Jacob's family originally were from Switzerland or Germany.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks so much.
