My great grandmother was born in 1884 in Evansville. I would like to
try to get her birth certificate if one even exists for someone who was born
in 1884. She died in 1984 in Sheffield, Alabama. I have her SS# application
and her place of birth is listed as Evansville, Vanderburgh Co, Indiana.
Does anyone know how I could go about
getting this document or what courthouse or record holder to write to so I
can get a copy of it? Or even if it exists?
Many Thanks, Amanda Baltz (Walleyland(a)aol.com)

It is on the outskirt of Evansville just as you are entering Warrick
County and just before coming into Newburgh from Evansville
Susie
It is actually called
Stevenson station
My father -n-law said their was recently a historical story in the local
paper and if memory serves him it was named for Soloman (sp) Stevens and
had something to do with the underground railroad.
Susie
Has anyone heard of Stevens Station? I am told it is about 12 miles from
Evansville. I think it might have been a landing. Thanks, Liesa

Hallo,
I´m looking for any informations on members of the WIECHEL, WICHEL family.
Louis Wiechel (* 30.10.1820 Altena, Westf., Germany) went to Evansville
before 1871. He is listed in 'Indiana Directories 1888-92'. There are also
other WIECHEL listed in the same list.
As fare as I can see, there are no more WIECHEL living in this area today.
In germany the spelling also changes between WICHEL and WIECHEL. Maybe the
spelling also changed to WEICHEL because of the different pronunciation
between german and english language.
Any hint may help!
Thank you
Wolf-Dietrich Wiechel

I would be ever so grateful if someone could check the 1900 census for
Vanderburgh Co. (Evansville) for the following individual:
Lebbeus H. Clark
or
Leb H. Clark
or
L. H. Clark
This would be an older man probably in his 70's. Had a wife named Maria.
May have a son by the same name as his.
Any information at all about this family will be gratefully appreciated.
Carol

I was asked by a man living in Germany if I would check on a death that occured in his family in Evansville, Indiana.
The name was Heinrich ENGELBACH. He immigrated in 1852 and died in Evansville on September 8, 1854.
Can anyone help me find some information about Heinrich that I could pass on to the man in Germany?

Surname: Estes, Felker
-------------------------
Sue, Wish I could help you, and I will try when I get to Evansville next
time. Try the Willard Library in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co. Their genealogy
dept. is located there. My father, William Felker, was an "inmate" (as
the 1900 census calls it) at the Children's Home while your grandmother
was there, except that he was about 11 years old when she must have gone
there. He was born in 1891 and went there as a 13 month old, along with
his 3 sisters, who were all sent to different homes. Daddy spent most of
his years in the Children's Home. I have been lucky and believe I have
found the immigration records of my ancestors. I have been unable to unearth
Children's Home Records. Best of luck in your search.
