Message Board Post:
I am looking for Joseph Moore b. about 1790 who married Elizabeth Reeds in the Union,
Indiana area.
A Joseph Moore served in the Franklin militia in the War of 1812 (before Union was split
from Franklin). In addition, a Joseph Moore is listed in the "History of
Fayette" (p. 247) as a teacher in Jackson, Fayette around 1817.
I would like to know if these are my Joseph Moore and, if so, who his parents were.
Since the Moores in Fayette County are mostly related to Daniel Moore who arrived in 1809,
I wonder if this Joseph is one of Daniel's older sons.
In 1830, Joseph appears in Union County, living next to his father in law (?), Thomas
Reeds. The county border changes make all of this very confusing. As I understand it,
both Union and Fayette were broken off from Franklin.
Joseph Moore and Elizabeth Reeds had 6 children. I know of just three: John M. Moore,
Hannah, and Nancy -- all three of whom married into the Langston family. John M. Moore
and Hannah Moore moved on to Henry, Iowa.
I would appreciate help in sorting this out!
