Hi Charlotte,
You are the first person I've run into that is researching the GARD
family in the same location as am I. However, your names are not familiar to
me. My 3rd great grandparents were Benjamin and Eliza Adams GARD. He died
1841 and is buried in the Pentecost Cemetery a few miles NE of Liberty, Union
Co., Indiana. One of the daughters, her husband, mother-in-law, and a couple
of children are also buried there. Their son, Squire, one of 15 (?) children
was born in Union Co, IN, and I have a great deal of information on Squire
and his family and descendants.
I have not verified the information, but the Gards seem to have drifted
easily across the Indiana/Ohio border as you will find that name in both
Union and Wayne Counties Indiana, and Preble County, Ohio in the same time
frame.
Someone (I've not followed through on this) has put a great deal of
information in the LDS Ancestral File, much of it on my line is incorrect.
However you might want to check the LDS Web site at: <A
HREF="http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp">... History
Library Catalog</A>
www.familysearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp
Also there is a website, by Margie Gard Grey and her sister (?). They
have a lot of information on the Gard Family, but for the life of me I can't
find the URL. I'll look further. In the meantime, check out the Rootsweb
site:
http://rsl.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/rslsql.cgi There are GARDs listed there in
OH & IN. If you want to talk more, we can do so directly. My e-mail is

<< Hopefully somebody can help me out. I'm looking for information on
James GARD and his family. He was born in 1842 in Indiana. He married
Amanda JENKINS around 1886. Amanda was born in 1855. They had 3 children:
Emmett (1887), Earl (1888) and Ethel (1891) born in Isreal Twp, Preble Co OH.
However, the family settled in Union County, Indiana. Is anyone else out
there researching this family?
Thanks,
