Thanks for the info. I am familiar with Sand Run and Harter cemeteries. The cemetery I am
referring to is on 450S. In the 1884 Beers Atlas of Union Twp page 49 the cemetery I am
talking about is in Sec 1 and in the NE corner of the Jas. P. Gilmore property. It is
probably completely obliterated by now as the farmer had pretty much encroached into the
plot with his plow many years ago.
It sounds like you are the Cemetery Committe of one. You can only do so much. If I were
still in Liberty I would give you a hand. I know there are some cemeteries that are being
completely neglected due to their location. The old Dubois Cemetery in Harmony Twp. where
my Samples are buried has been forgotten ever since the county road was closed eons ago.
It has probably been 20 years since I was back there and it was all grown up in trees and
undebrush then. However, a lot of the stones were still standing. It was a long walk
across the cornfield to get to it. I went there in the winter so that the weeds
wouldn't be so thick.
