Union County Health Department

Liberty Indiana 47353
For a death record, if she died within the county. If she died in a hospital, it could be
Wayne, Fayette or where ever.
Newspapers are VERY scattered for that period. It was and is a weekly paper, but one
would have to look on each page because they did not place obits in any certain place and
no, no one has done an obituary index.
She is not buried at West Point, the largest Cemetery in Liberty. Active cemeteries at
that time was...I hope I get this right...West Point (Liberty), College Corner, Calvery
(Catholic), Sims (moved because of the the Brookville Lake), Dunlapsville, Richland,
Brownsville ME, Brownsville Christian, Crawford (maybe).
There are cemetery books, but I would bet anything that a burial at that time was not
recored in either book becuse for some strange reason they ceased writting down stones
much past 1900.
You can try and read the newspapers, look in the cemetery books, contact
Showalter-Blackwell-Long funeral home and see if they will look at the records (all the
funeral homes in the county have merged into this) and the health department.
Good luck

Some people claim Mayflower ancestors .... I would be happy if I could find mine in a
leaky row boat!
