William Leeper etc all orphan minors
Union County To wit Be it remembered that on this day To wit on the second juridicial day
to the Term aforesaid came William Leeper and Jamison Leeper over the age of fourteen
years and choose Grizel Leeper for their Guardian and also Samuel Leeper under the age of
fourteen years and
thereupon the court appoints the said Grizzel Leeper Guardian of the person and estate of
the said Minors until the said William and Jamison shall respectively arrieve at the age
of twenty one years and until the said Samuel shall arrive at the age of fourteen
according to the form of the statue in such cases made and provided. The said Guardian
with John Leeper and William G Grubbs her security having given bond to the state of
Indiana in the sum of 450.00

fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eighthundred and thirty one before
Hon___C__ of Probate judge of said County.

On Petition ___ for sale of Real estate.
Be it remembered that hertofore to wit on the first day of the term of March in the year
aforesaid came the said Guardian by_______ and filed the following petition in the premise
to wit? , State of Indiana Union County.SS March Term 1831 To the Honorable the judge of
the Union county Porbate Court your petitioner Grizzel Leeper Guardian of Jamison,
William, & Samuel Leeper infant heirs of WIlliam Leeper deseased would respectively
shew unto your honor that the said WIlliam Leeper died intestate some? in the year 1822 ?
sized in fee simple of the Northwest quarter of section number ten town ten and Range one
West of the principal meridian line of lands directed to be sold at Cincinte lying in the
county of Union & State __except to twenty five acres which was sold to Silas Miller
in the lifetime of the said decd. Your petitioner states that the decedent left four other
children and heirs all of whom have arrrived to the age of twenty one years and who have
sold out their u!
ndivided shares in said land. and your petitionox would state into your honor that she is
satisfied it would be for the interest of the wards to have the land or their undivided
shares sold as the land situated as it is, if not, calculated to be of but little use of
benefit to the said wards or heirs. She would further say that she is the widow and relick
of said William Leeper decd. Your petitionox therefore prays the court to decree the said
land to be sold on such terms as may seem right to your honor, and that such other
dercrees and orders may be made up as this case may require, and as in duty bound your
petitionox will ever pray and ___ and that Robert Long, Samuel Eickenburg(Elkenburg?) and
James Curry to appraise the land aforesaid and make return to this court at the present
term, and there upon personally came the aforesaid appraisers into open court and made the
following return of their appraisment of said land in said petition to wit states of
Indiana Union Co!
unty, Probate Court, March term 1831. Grizzel Leeper Guardian etc. ? (peti?)tion for
sale of real estate all the undersigned free holders of said County, who have been
appointed to value and appraise the land in the petition mentioned belonging to the heirs
of William Leeper deceased, do value and appraise the same at and for the sum of one
thousand and eighty dollars, the whole one hundred and thirty five acres included in the
valuation, the three undivided shares off said land of said heirs in the petition
amounting to the sum of four hundred and sixty two dollars and eighty four cents. Witness
our hands and seals this 14th day of March 1831.

And there upon the law? make the following decrees? orders in the ___. It is ordered,
adjuged and decreed___ Grizzle Leeper Guardian as aforesaid.... in due form of law, with
goods and sufficient security in the paid sum of nine hundred dollors, conditional for the
faithful discharge of her duties according to law and the provisions of this decree. And
it is further ordered, adjudged and dereed, that the said Grizzel Leeper Gaurdiam as
aforesaid, as soon as practically may, proceed to offer for sale on the____ public outcry
to the highest best bidder the said land in said petition mentioned before the next term
of this court, having first given twenty days previous notice of the time and place of
sale by setting up advertisement in six of the most public places in said County of Union
and it is further ordered adjuged and decreed that the said real estate shall be sold by
the said Gaurdian on the following terms and conditions... and therefore the said Grizzel

Grizzell Leeper et. al to John Cline this indenture made this 11th day of April in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, between Grizelle Leeper widow
and relick of Willliam Leeper and John Leeper, Hugh Boner and Susanah Boner his wife
alias Susanah Leeper, and James Stewart, and Jane Stewart his wife alias Jane Leeper
children and heirs of the said William Leeper, late of the county of Union and sate of
Indiana deceased of the first part and John Cline of the County of Union and the state of
Indiana of the second part, witnessth that the said party of the first part for and in
consideration of the the sum of six hundred dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt
thereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and conveyed, and by these
presents do grant bargain sell and convey onto the said John Cline his heirs and assigns
forever all their right as widow and heirs of sd to the following described estate to wit
that part of the northwe!
st quarter of Section ten in Township ten, Range one west of the first principle meridian
line drawn from the mouth of the great Miami River it being the real estate of which the
said William leeper died seized and possessed in fee simple and all the estate right title
and interest of the said party of the first part to and in the same to have and to hold
the said premises with all the appurtenances there unto belonging to the said premises as
tp their right as widows and heirs as aforesaid to the said John Cline his heirs and
assigns forever. And further the said party of the first part for themselves their
heirs__ do conventgrant and agree to and with the said John CLine his heirs and assigns
that they have good right full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in
manner and form of aforesaid and further that they the said party of the first part their
heirs and assigns___ and will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises every___
of their right!
thereof to the said John Cline his errors and assigns against every person claiming the
same by from or under them or any of them or from anyother person whatsoever witness
whereto the said Grizzelle Leeper John Leeper and Telitha, his wife who hereby
relinquishes her right to dower in the premises. Hugh Boner and Susanah his wife and James
Stuart and jane his wife hereonto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year
first above written.

indeed of conveyance to be their volutary act and deed for the use and purposes there in
mentioned: the said Telitha Leeper, Susanah Boner and James Stewart being my me examined
seperate and aprt from their said husbands as the law directs, acknowledged that they
signed sealed and delivered the same of their own free will without any coercion or
restraint by their said husbands and they thereby relinquishes their right to dower in all

Grizelle Leeper to John Cline
This indenture made the 20th day of December 1834 between Grizelle Leeper of the county
of Union and state of Indiana commissioner appointed by the union county probate court to
make sale and conveyance of ceratin real estate of William Leeper deceased as is
hearafter mentioned and described of the one part and John Cline of the county and state
aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that whereas Jamison Leeper William Leeper and
Samuel Leeper by Grizelle Leeper their guardian, children and heirs of William Leeper
deceased, filed their petition in the Union County Probate court at the March term
thereof in the year 1831 praying a sale of their 3 undivided shares of the following track
of land situate in the county of Union and state aforesaid the same being a part of the
Norwest quarter Section No.10 of Township No. 10 Range No one west of the principle
meridian line drawn from the mouth of the Great Miami River of lands directed to be sold
at Cincinnnati which said t!
ract of land descended from their father, William Leeper deceased, in conjunction with
four other children to wit Susanah Boner, later Susanah Leeper, Jane Stewart, late Jane
Leeper, John Leeper, and Mary Haynes, late Mary Leeper. And whereas the judge of the
Union County Probate court at the March term thereof in the year 1831 ordered and decreed
the sale of the three undivived shares of said land after the same had been valued
according to the statue of Indiana in such cases made and provided, and appointed
Grizzelle Leeper commissioner to make sale and conveyance of said land, and whereas the
said Grizelle Leeper having given notice of the time and place of sale agreeable to the
decree of said court on the 9th day of April 1831. ON the premises of foresaid the said
tract of land for sale by public outcry to the highest bidder at which time and place and
at the sale of foresaid the said John Cline became the pruchaser of the said three
undivided shares of the said land !
at and for the sum of two hunfred and forty dollars paid according to the decree of the
court. And whereas the said John Cline has paid to the said Grizzelle Leeper the full and
complete sum of two hundred and forty dollars together with all the interest due thereon
for and during the time of credit given on the same in the decree of the said court, now
this indenture witnesseth that the said Grizelle Leeper gaurdian for Jamison Leeper,
William Leeper and Samuel Leeper infant children and heirs of William Leeper deceased for
and consideration of the sum of two hundred and forty dollas together with all the
interest due on the same to that said Grizelle Leeper commissioner and guardian of
foresaid well and truly paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell onto the said John
Cline his heirs and assigns forever the above mentioned and described three shares of said
land together with all the a!
ppurtanances there onto belonging or in wise appertaining And all the estate right title
claim or demand of her the said Grizelle Leeper or the said Jameson Leeper William Leeper
and Samuel Leeper her wards or any other person or persons claiming from or under them or
either of them and the rents profits and issues of said land from the day of sale and the
Grizzelle Leeper gaurdian as aforesaid for jameson leeper, William Leeper, and Samuel
Leeper fore herself and her succeeder do convant with the said John cline his heirs and
assigns that she has full power and lawful authority to convey the premises in manner
aforesaid and that she will forever warrant and defend the undivided shares to the said
John Cline his heirs forever. In witness where of the said Grizelle Leeper as
commissioner and Gurdian as aforesaid for her respective ward s as above named and
mentioned have onto set her hand and seal the day and year above written
signed and sealed in the prescence of

the uses and purposes ther in named. And testimony whereof I have hereunto selt my hand
and seal this 20th day of november 1834.

Alfred Hains To John Leeper
Know all men by these presents that we Alfred Hains & Mary his wife of Tazwell County
and State of Illinois in consideration of the sum of seventy dollars well and truly paid
by John Leeper of Union County & State of Indianna the receipt whereof we do hereby
acknowledge have remissed released and forever quit claimed and do by these presents
remit release and forever quit claim unto the said John Leeper his heirs and asigns
forever all our part of the following described premises it being the real estate of
William Leeper Decd viz the Northwest quarter of section ten town ten Range one west of
the principal Merdian line drawn from the mouth of the greate Miame river, to have and to
hold the same together with all the privileges and appurtenances therunto belonging to him
said John Leeper his heirs and asigns forever. In testimony whereof we had set our hand
and seals this seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred

voluntarily and of her own free will and accord without fear or coexcion of her husband
