Does anyone have any information about Martin Rooney who married Ann Gerarty (other
possible variations include Geraty, Garrity, Gerity, Geraty, etc) in 1850 in Union, IN?
I'm also looking for John Rooney whom I believe was his brother. Ann & Martin
apparently had a son Edward born in 1852 who was also born in Union Co., Indiana, with
John Rooney as the witness on his Catholic baptism record. After leaving Indiana they all
lived in Paris, Edgar Co, IL, by 1860.
I am particularly interested in finding out if the immigration declaration tells the
exact origin of John Rooney & Martin Rooney. I am not able to get the copy of the
court papers in Union Co (Liberty) because the courthouse is under construction and
records there are not accessible at this time. I will tell you what I do know and if
anyone has any access to these records some other place, I'd appreciate your
assistance.

This INDEX shows the immigration records are in the court records in Union Co. If
anyone has any other way of accessing these records, I'd appreciate any information
that you could give me regarding the county of origin in Ireland or the exact year and
port of immigration for Martin &/or John. According to oral family history, Martin
met Ann on the ship coming to America and then they later married in America. I don't
know if Martin and John traveled together, but I think they probably did.
Thanks for any leads anyone can give me on this family's origin in Ireland.
