out Jane Davis.

James enlisted in the Revolutionary War, 3rd New Jersey Regiment. He served 1776-1780.
Regiments: Captain Aaron Sharp, Captain Samuel Flannigham, Col. Elias Dayton 2rd Reg.
James' will is located in the Union County Court House, County Clerk's office,
Union County, Indiana.
Small will book pages 50-52. The will was written 6 January 1827 and recorded 8 August
1827. In it is mentioned sons: Samuel, Bartholomew, John and Isaac. Daughters Elizabeth
Shannon, Rebecca Waddle, Jane and Mary. His wife was Mary.
"Samuel Davis and James Snowden are confirmed executors of the will of James Davis,
deceased." Page 55. September 1827. Probate Order Book A.
"Samuel Davis, an executor of the will of James Davis, deceased, is allowed twelve
dollars for twelve days service as executor." Page 78. September 1829. Probate

"James Snowden and Samuel Davis, executors of the will of James Davis, deceased,
asked for further time to settle this estate." Page 139, 1831. Probate Order Book

"The will of James Davis, deceased, is on this page, which was dated June 15, 1827
and was witnessed by Andrew Carmichael, Samuel Andrews and Ebenezer Hayward. He mentions
his sons, Samuel, Bartholomew, John and his daughters, Elizabeth Shannon, Rebecca Waddell,
Jane Davis and Mary Davis. He mentions is son Isaac, his wife Mary. He wants eight acres
of Congress land to be purchased form the sale of his personal property for the use of
Rebecca Waddle during her natural life and the remainder to her heirs. He appointed James
Snowden and son Samuel to be his executors. Will proved August 8, 1827." Page 50.

"The personal property of James Davis, deceased, is listed here and includes a mill
for cleaning grain, sundry blacksmith tools, a judgement against Seth V. Carter at $240.
Appraised by John Creek and Joseph Billings. A sale bill is also listed." Page 136.

"Samuel Davis, one of the executors of the will of James Davis, deceased, makes
application for final settlement of this estate. A payment to John Davis of $100 is
listed. Disbursements."

Land Record book D page 413: James Davis: This record mentions Mary, widow of James, dec.,
Bartholomew, Isaac, Jane, John and Lydia. It is concerning the settlement of the
estate.
"Bartholomew Davis petitions the court for confirmation as executor of the will of
his wife (This SHOULD read Mother) Mary Davis, deceased. The will dated Aug. 5, 1836
and witnessed by Samuel Davis, Isaac Davis and Erasmus Rose. She mentions her children
Elizabeth Shannon, Rebecca Waddle, Bartholomew Davis, Samuel Davis, John Davis, Jane
Cline, Isaac Davis and Mary Billings. Elijah Waddle is listed as Rebecca Waddle's
husband. The executor files a bond of $1000 with David Flack and Erasmus Rose as his
sureties. An inventory of the personal property was entered here, which includes a
trundle bed, a side-saddle, a family bible and several promissory notes due Mary by
Alexander White, Samuel Davis, Isaac Davis, George Cline, Abner Colee, John Davis and
Bartholomew Davis. Also she has the usual household and farm items of that time. A sale
bill of property is also listed here and a final settlement is made of this estate.
Receiving equal amounts of $63 are Isaa!

Bartholomew Davis and yet in the hands of the executor were the shares of Rebecca Waddle

Mary (Taylor) Davis was the daughter of John Taylor, born 15 July 1720, and died in 25
September 1805 in Pittstown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He is buried in St. Thomas
Church, Pittstown, New Jersey. John married Elizabeth, daughter of Bartholomew and
Elizabeth Thatcher. She was born in 1725 and died in 1789 in Pittstown.
John Taylor was the son of John (c. 1700 - 31 May 1779) and Sarah (Tillyer) Taylor.
Bartholomew Thatcher was born 23 May 1670 in Uffington, Berkshire, England He was
Christened 23 May 1670 Bartholomew died between 1764 and 1771 at Kingwood, Hunterdon Co.,
New Jersey. He was the son of Richard and Mary (Morris) Thatcher. Bartholomew's wife
Elizabeth died 29 Jul 1771.

In February 1836, Bartholomew Davis administered the estate of Alexander Shannon,
Deceased. Page 193. Complete Probate Book B, Union County, Indiana.
"Bartholomew Davis was appointed administrator in October 1834 of the estate of
Alexander Shannon, deceased. It is stated that the next of kin to the deceased is his
father who is extremely infirm in both mind and body because of his advanced age.
Bartholomew filed a bon of $600. An inventory of Alexander's personal property is
here entered and includes a mantel clock, 21 pounds of woolen yarn and the usual household
and farm articles of the time. Also listed here is a sale bill of the personal property.
Final settlement is here made of this estate. No one named Shannon received a sum in
this settlement." Feb. 1836.

She is mentioned as Jane Cline in her Mother's will, however in 1838, her share of
the estate was being held for her husband, George Cline, indicating that Jane had died
prior to the settlement of her mother's estate. George has either re-located or died
also.
