This is from the 1989 Union County History.
"Smith Logue (1819-1872) married Lydia Garnder Logue (1818-1912) in North Carolina.
They came to Union County from Guilford Co, NC about 1860. They went on to Texas where
William T. Logue, the youngest of nine children was born (12-15-1864) in the town of
Victoria TX. They became disillusioned with Texas and decided to return to Union County
where family and friends were settled.
William Logue, being a baby, became ill on the return journey. He and his parents got
on the train at St. Louis, leaving Alveron, the eldest son, to bring the rest of their
family and possession the remainder of the journey by covered wagon. When Alveron and his
brothers and sisters got to Brownsvill to ford the river, they were met by some ruffians
who were not going to allow them crossing without a fight. ALveron had bought six guns
and holsters in Texas, which he got out of the trunk and put on, and they had no more
trouble.
The Logue family settled in the Salem and Cottage Grove area, Will Logue married Laura
Sanford and had six children: Rober, Lester, Leta, Dlebert, Richard. Another son died at
birth.....
