Gary Scare makes some good comments about going on other peoples property.
I have timber land in Texas (no cemeteries I know of), and agree it is
nice to know if someone is on the place.
In this case, I visited the Union County Court house, looked up the property
owner on the County Map, and made a copy of the Warranty Deed, which grants
an easement for access to the Lybrook or Railsback Cemetery for the purposes
of visiting said cemetery for the purposes of research, or maintainance,
or for sentimental reasons. Visitors shall be responsible for damage.
I always thought easement meant a form of access, but I did not see any
viable access, even after talking with a man that drove by. He gave me
a good idea of where the cemetery was located, and confirmed the grass
covered East West opening between corn fields was in fact a county road
that is no longer maintained on the East side of the creek. I may never
go back to Union County since I live so far away, but if I do, I will try
to make it during winter.
