Hello everyone!
I have a glitch in my research and I'm hoping that someone can point me
out in the right direction. My problem is that I'm looking for a wedding
date and I don't know if it's in Preble Co or Union Co around 1886 but for
the moment it doesn't appear to be in either.
John Gard and Ann Ramsey were married in Union Co in 1841 and they raised
their kids there including James Gard b. 1842.
Winburn Jenkins and Susannah Baker were married in Preble Co in 1852 and
they raised their kids there including Amanda b. 1855.
I have recently visited the National Archives and found James and Amanda
as an older couple in the census. From the census, I got the impression
that James and Amanda were married around 1886. I also got the impression
that she was his second wife. Their kids, born in 1887, 1888, and 1891,
were born in Preble Co, but they were raised in Union Co.
I recently had the Preble Co library do some research on the Jenkins
family for me and they did not come up with a date for James Gard and Amanda
Jenkins' wedding. Yesterday I went to the DAR library and I found a Union
Co marriage book for the 2nd half of the 19th century. In it, I found James
Gard's marriage date to his first wife, Anna Stewart, on October 13, 1870
but there was nothing about a second marriage for him. Does anyone have any
suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance,
Charlotte
