I am trying to find out about Foster Cemetary, where Henry Landis was buried in 1834. I am trying to find someone who may know of listings to the cemetary and if Henry is buried with other Landis family members.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Gordon married her step-brother, Cyrus Gardner 12 January 1849. They are listed in the census for Center Township along with their 4-month old son, Francis. I found it on Roll 176, Page 328a.
Cyrus was the 7th child of Thomas B. and Eunice (Gardner) Gardner. Eunice died in 1833. Thomas then married Ruth (Maxwell) Gordon in 1842 as you stated.
Elizabeth was reported for marrying contrary to discipline on 27 October 1849. She was subsequently disowned on 22 December 1849. She was probably not disowned for marrying her step-brother. She was probably disowned for marrying Cyrus just 4 months after he was disowned for not attending meetings and for departing from plainness of dress and/or language.
>From the replies you have received, you have now found out none of the Gordon children were living with Thomas in 1850. Nine of his own children were living with him at the time - six by Eunice and three by Ruth. It should be noted that Thomas Gardner Jr.'s age is listed as 30. However, the census taker may have erred. The Salem MM records show that Thomas Jr. was born 8 February 1818.

I found two Gordon children living in Union Co., Indiana in 1850 census.
Esther Gordon, 11, was living with the Joel Hayworth family. (Page 329 in Center Township.)
Charles Gordon, 20, was living with Joseph Kingery. This family lived in Harrison Township, Page 348.

Does anyone have the portion of the 1850 Union Cty. Indiana census that includes Center Township? I am trying to establish where, and with whom, the following GORDON children were living in 1850: Betsey, b.1827, Ann, b.1828, Charles b. 1830, Isom, b. 1834, Jemima, b. 1836, Esther, b. 1838.
Their father James died in 1839. In 1842 their mother Ruth (Maxwell) Gordon md.Thomas Gardner (1783-1867). Ruth had 3 children by Gardner; Isarella, b.1842, Hugh, b.1844, Warner, b. 1847. Mr. Gardner resided in Center Twp.
Ruth died in 1848. Quite likely Thomas Gardner continued to reside in Center Twp. until his death in 1867. But I have never known where the Gordon children lived following Ruth's death. Can anyone tell me if any of the Gordon children are in the 1850 Center Twp. census? Are any of the Gordon children listed in their stepfather's (Thomas Gardner) home? Were Ruth's three children by Mr. Gardner listed as residing in his home in 1850?
(I know that Charles Gordon married Eliz. M. Stubbs in the Spiceland Ind. MM in 1852.)
Jemima Gordon was licensed as a medical doctor in Indiana, Missouri & Minnesota. In the 1870's she was the director of a orphanage for African-American children in Indianapolis - I believe it was run by the Quakers. I have two of her original medical licences and a letter she wrote while the head of that orphange. Can anyone suggest what Indiana Hist. Soc. might have an interest in these original items?
Thank you.
