Looking for info on the family of Daugh or Daw (sp?) and Violie. I do
not have their married name but Violie's maiden name was Davis. She had
a sister Mary Davis Smith in Richmond IN. They were born in or at least
came from Manchester Clay Co. KY. Mary's husband Clyde died in 1987 and
Mary died about 1992 in Richmond Ind.
Thanks, Sharon
Marilyn,
Thank you so much for your information! It never occurred to me that there
was a stepfather in the picture for my Samuel.
Another question, please. Do you have the date and county in NJ where
William and Elizabeth married?
When I go to Indiana in August, I will try to see if I can look up the
Whetzel information for you in the Union County History.
Thanks again for all the information!
Debbie
Hello Debbie,
Would be delighted to tell you what I know. Samuel's father, William
Lefuse(spelling per the N.J. Marriage books) died shortly after joining the
Revolution. His mother Elizabeth Johnson later married Daniel Wetsel/Wetzel
who raised Samuel. There is a possibility that William Lefuse most likely
died before Samuel was born.
Believe Daniel was the son of John Wetzel and Johanna Jane Jarrett of
Macungie Twp., Northampton later Lehigh Co., PA., but, don't have my final
piece of the puzzle to be 100% certain. Have also traced a Daniel Wetsel
serving in the 12th VA Regiment of the Continental Army which recruited at
Ft. Pitt. My research seems to point that I am 99.99% sure that this is my
Dan.
We have never found where Daniel and Elizabeth were married, but, know that
it was not in N.J. Still looking. They spent a short time living in N.J.
and settled in Fayette Co., PA. in the late 1700s. .My 3 x g,grandfather
George Whetsel was their last child who was born in 1800
I am the 4 x g,granddaughter of Daniel Wetsel/Wetzel and
Elizabeth(Johnson)Lefuse. It seems that Samuel is the one to change the
spelling to LaFuze. I have the name of another LaFuze descendant who lives
south of me in Illinois. I don't know if her Email address is still the
same.
Dan, Sr's son, Dan, Jr. Sam LaFluze, and another Whetsel brother first went
to Ohio and later settled in Union Co., IN.
I have been looking for the bio on Dan, Jr. in one of the histories of Union
Co. which stated that his father fought in the Revolution. Possibly the
info came from Dan, Jrs obit, but, I know that this info exists.
I guess you could say that we are half-cousins since we both share Elizabeth
Johnson.

Hello Marilyn,
My source of information states that the only County history of
Union County was a multiple county book, and I have forgotten the name
of this book. There is a copy in two places where I live (Los Angeles
area), and I will look it up the next time I am there, but I go 3 times
a year, so don't panic. I will try to get there this week. The reason
you can't find it is one of the other counties is first ( also why I
can't remember). I can't open my genealogy program while on line, so I
can't look until later.
Good luck and you may send to me directly if you wish. I have a great
gr. aunt that married a Whetzel and my wife has a Weitzel in Bureau
county Illinois.

Hi,
I have Meade/Mead in my family. Just started to do some research on them and don't have a lot of information. I have a Christian Mead/Meade born 1812 New York, married Anna Cornell born 1823 New York. They married in Kingston, Marquette County, Wisconsin. Are these name remotely familiar?
Thanks,

I am also new to this but I think I know where Union County is. The

in Michigan and became my gr grand mother. I do not know a thing about
these people but I had a fine grandfather and want to learn something
about his family.

Hello,
I am new to your list. My purpose for joining was the hope that someone
would have a history of Union Co, IN which has a bio concerning a very early
settler by the name of
DANIEL WETZEL/WETSEL/WHETSEL/WHETZEL/WHITSELL.
I know that in one of the histories it states that his father served in the
Revolution. Daniel's half brother whose surname was LEFUSE/LAFUZE also
settled in Union Co. I am interest in learning the name of the book that
features Daniel's bio and obtaining a copy of the page.
If there is a Union Co. Historical Society, I would very much appreciate
learning the address, Phone number and Email.
My husband was born in Crawfordsville, IN and grew up in Garrett, IN. I
don't know exactly where Union Co. is.
Thank you,
Marilyn: Lake Co., IL; marjenp(a)mindspring.com.
