WOW.. that's a lot of land. The Miami river is in Ohio Hamilton - Butler counties. The Kentucky is on the Ohio River in Kentucky. Now the treaty of Greenville line ran from the mouth of the KY River to Greenville Ohio. You could draw a triangle and that would be quite a bit of land.

Helo,
It was not just Guilford Co. men that moved on, there was also mast movement
from Wilkes and Surry Co.'s west to new unsettled lands. West into eastern
TN, KY and southern Indiana. New lands had been opened and by 1820 into
Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and what was to become east Texas. By 1850 a lot
of the younger people migrated on to Orgeon, CA and Washington. Beverly
William Willis moved from Guilford Co., NC to Union Co., IN before 1811. He
died in Union Co. in 1823 leaving the following heirs: Levin, Trustrum,
William, Elizabeth Waddle, Thomas, Robert, and Sally. Would like to know
more about those non-Quakers who moved from Guilford Co., NC to Franklin
(Union) Co. during the same time period as my ancestor William. Thanks.

Hello,
I'm looking for information on my gr-grandfather, CHARLES R(RILEY?) CUNNINGHAM( 1872?-1914?). So far this is what I know:

Addy Pearl (1901-73)
Robert Morton (1903-93)
William Garrett (1905-81)

Ruby Maxine
(ALL BORN IN UN COUNTY)
Charles is said to have been a wealthy land speculator, who moved his family all over the USA.and also is said to have caught maleria and died in Wauchula FL in 1914; however, Jacksonville authorities cannot locate his death certificate.
I know nothing of Chas. parents or siblings. To my knowledge no pictures of him survive, but I would love to be wrong about that.
If you have any information on Charles R Cunningham , please send me an email; fThanks or your assistance with my search.

Linda,
My Miller's moved from Guilford Co., NC to Indiana around 1834. In the 1840
census they were in Union Co. In the 1850 and 1860 censuses they were in
Wayne Co. and then back to Union Co. in 1870.
Jonathan Miller died 7 MAY and was buried in Godwin's Corner Cemetery, Center
Twp., Union Co. This is the same cemetery that his wife's, Mary (Howren)
Miller, brother and sister-in-law, William and Rachel (Wright) Howren, are
buried. I can't find any listing of the burial of Mary.
I was hoping when I first started researching this line that my MIller's and
Howren's were Quakers, but no such luck!
Debbie
Sorry about that last posting! I think I need a nap! LOL The Miller's I
descend from are Jonathan and Mary (HOWREN) MILLER from Guilford Co., NC.
Norinda LAFUZE married their son Josiah Campbell MILLER.
Thanks,
Debbie Engelking
Merle Rummel compiled an unpublished manuscript/book on the Four Mile Church
and the associated Families. If you are interested there is a copy at the
Union Co., Library. I also have some of the information if you want to know
about a particular family. I am descended mainly from the Huston's,
McMullen's, Kingery's and Miller's.

On my maps it appears that the Miami River empties into the Ohio River just
about at the state line between Ohio and Indiana. The Kentucky River
empties into the Ohio River at Carrollton, Kentucky, some miles downstream,
opposite Switzerland County, Indiana.

Can anyone tell me in which county the following rivers exist:
"...James Gordon, whose native state was North Carolina, but who had lived for a time in the southeastern part of the state [Indiana], in the strip which lay between the mouths of the Kentucky and the Miami rivers."
I'm looking for Union County info, pre-1850, on my
gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather James B. Hart (1803-1851), and his father
Patrick Hart and mother Isabelle Rolgreen. Also his siblings. I know he
had a brother Andrew T. Hart, born 1811 in VA, who died in Hancock Co.
IN about 1890, but I know of no others for certain; maybe Edward and
Samuel, whose names also appear in HAncock Co as adults. I do not know
James B. Hart's wife's surname. Her given name was Elizabeth.
-I know James B Hart is on the 1830 Census, because I've seen the index
on the Union Countywebsite, but I do not have details of how many lived
with him, ages, genders, etc.
-I also know he was in Johnson Co IN by 1850; he died there in 1851. His
obit said he came to Indiana "about 20 years ago."
-A county history, perhaps from Hancock Co, indicated Andrew Hart's
father had been in St Clair's army when it was defeated in 1791.
-Andrew Hart's death certificate in Hancock Co names Patrick Hart as
father, born in Ireland, and names Isabelle Rolgreen.
At some time I saw a reference to James Hart in Liberty in 1833. Having
been in western Ohio in 1791, it is my guess that the father, Patrick,
brought his family through western Ohio sometime between 1811 (date of
son's birth in VA) and 1830. Maybe they were in Indiana earlier...1820.
Hard to say. Patrick was not on the 1830 census; I don't know if he
might appear as an old man in James' household. Any help on Hart or
Rolgreen is appreciated.

There is a marriage record of a William H. Cummins to Emma Walker dated October 10, 1894 at the Ohio Historical Dept in Franklin County, Columbus, Ohio
There was a family of BELL in the early 1800s in Preble county, Ohio. The
parents were Samuel BELL and his wife, Jane HAMILTON. Jane was sister of
Israel HAMILTON, a blacksmith who had his shop and lived in Union county,
Indiana. I don't know what happened to the BELL children.

: Anyone out there doing research into the BELL Families in Union and
Fayette Co? My great-grandfather MILETUS BELL married RACHEL R. BELL,
Fayette Co, 11 FEB 1845, Rev. DAVID B. REID, Dunlapsville. I'm trying to
locate her parents. JOHN W. BELL and SARAH G. BARNES seem the most likely.
He was a physician who probably moved around there from Dublin, IN. After
his marriage (his second) they moved to Clarksburg, IN where there three
children (FLORENCE, CHARLES and MILETUS) were born. She died 5 MAR 1853 and
he returned to Wayne Co. IN, Boone Co., IN and eventually Indianapolis.

This note is to let everyone know what a great resource there is at the
Liberty Library. We breezed in there just before Labor Day with only a
short amount of time and were bowled over by the wonderful help we received.
Not only was the information great, but she gave us directions to the
Keiffer Cemetery where we found many ancestor's graves (including a stone of
twins that we didn't know existed). Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi Pam,
No apologies necessary. You have a lot of good info and are willing to share it as well as search for more. That is what genealogy is all about. I'm sure as dedicated as you are to genealogy you will soon have a pretty good feel for Union County. Keep up the good work. I didn't mean to come across in a scolding sort of way or that I know it all. Was just trying to give you some of my background.
Cheers,
Gary
