The 1830 Census Index showed no WHETSTONE's in Union Co. IN but quite a
few ROSE's. There was a WHETSTONE shown in Hamilton Co. OH that year :

Surname: Himelick, Long

26 March 1840 Sarah A. Long married Andrew Hemelet (who I think is Andrew
Himelick). I am searching any verification of this and also any information
to both their ancestors.
I have information for Andrew Himeklick that moved to Miami Co., In. which
I would be happy to share.
Hello,
Is there anyone who can direct me to archives or possible newspaper articles
for the time period of 1898-1899. My Grgrandfather joined the Spanish
American War from a county in Indiana, although he lived, breathed, and died
in adjacent
Ohio / Indiana state-line counties of Butler, Montgomery and Warren in Ohio.
I have seen this several times....anyone know why a man would cross state
line to enlist in the military ?
Any, virtually any, clue would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Beck in Washington state
