Subject: [INTIPTON] Jacob Kessler
I am looking for information on Jacob Kessler who appears on the *1860
Census for Cicero, Tipton Co*. That record lists his place of birth as
Virginia.
aft H. b. 1858.I believe Catherine m/Byrum B.Kennedy.
The 1870 Census has the family still living in Cicero with additional
children:
Jacob D. b. 1861 and Martha W. b. 1863.
*In 1880* a Sarah E. Kessler, age 50, is found living in Indianapolis with
son, Stephen D. age 19 and daughter Mattie age 17.Sarah is listed as being
born in Maryland and the children in Indiana.Their father isn't with them on
this census but it lists his place of birth as Virginia.
It could be an error on the 1870 census listing a son Jacob D. when it
should have been Stephen D. as both entries make this person's birth as
1861.
My questions:
Is the Jacob Kessler b. abt 1816 in Virginia the same Jacob Kessler who was
buried at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton Co., Indiana, on March 18, 1885?
Who were the parents of Jacob Kessler?
Was Sarah E. the mother of John T. Wachtle who is living with them in
1860?Was Sarah E. a Wachtle before marrying Jacob Kessler?
If anyone is searching this line, I would be so glad to hear from you.

His wife was Sarah E. b. abt 1830 [the 1860census transcribed it as
Laura E. but all others have her as Sarah E.]Sarah was listed as being
born in Maryland.Living with them was a 10-year old male J. T. Wachtle
also born in Maryland. Other children listed were born in
Indiana.Catherine "Kate" b. 1855 and Samuel H. b. 1858.I believe
