JAMES SMITH DIES
Resident of Kempton Community
Was Ill Several Months
James Smith died Friday morning at 8:20 o'clock at his home three and a
quarter miles north of Kempton, his death being due to heart
complications. Mr. Smith had been in poor health for sevral months, but
his condition had not been regarded as serious until a short time before
his death. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m
at the Prarieville church. Burial will be at the cemetery nearby.
Mr. Smith was born in Tipton County, April 1st, 1949 and was one of the
twelve children born to Jacob and Elizabeth Smith and was the last
member of his family. He had lived in Tipton county all his life and
was a man highly esteemed in the community. He was united marriage to
Miss Carolyn Rayls, 56 years ago, and is survived by three children,
Sylvester and Beecher Smith and Mrs. Lucy Kenworthy, wife of John
Kenworthy. Since the death of the wife several years ago, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenworthy have lived in his home. He is also survived by one
granddaughter, Mrs. Nellie DeWitt of Tipton, and two great
grandchildren, Juanita and Robert DeWitt.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Friends church at Kempton, but attended
church a part of time at Reserve church near his home.
