I am the great granddaughter of Smith and Emma A. Soverns.Marcellus Edmund Soverns is my
grandfather on my mother's side. Marcellus and my grandmother, Bertha Allion Beaty,
moved to Norman, Indiana, in Jackson County, in 1916. The purchased 160 acres in Norman,
where my grandfather ran a sawmill, while also farming. They had twelve children, four
sons and eight daughters. One, George Washington Soverns, is buried somewhere in Tipton,
and died, I think, when only a few days old. Four daughters, Eva, Thelma, Emma and Edna,
all died at a very young age. All of the children were born in Tipton, with the exception
of the two youngest daughters, one of whom is still living. My mother, the third youngest
child is also living, and celebrated her 91st birthday in April. I have only been working
at genealogy a short time, but find it very interesting and a good way to take my mind off
of everyday things. Love to hear from you. V.R.C.R.
