Hi Linda. Yes, I would like to see the picture of John Ressler. I have a John Ressler
(no vitals) as a father to Amanda Ressler b abt 1834. She married Andrew Baxter Short in
1852 in Tipton Co., IN. I have an old album that belonged to this family but many of the
pictures are not identified. Some were taken in PA.I have no info on the Ressler family
but it's possible that Amanada belongs to this line. I'd like to hear from you
Linda to see if there is a connection. I hope the picture will prove it. Looking forward
to hearing from anyone that could connect.Irene

families in Tipton County, IN for some
time and I was fortunate to find the obituary of Abraham Ressler and wanted
to share it with any others that are also researching the Ressler family.
Abraham was born June 20, 1820 in PA and moved to Tipton County about 1845
building the first dwelling in New Lancaster. They moved for a few years to
Minnesota and then returned to Tipton County. There was a Jacob Ressler in
Tipton during this same time and it appears that he too moved to Minnesota.
Also in Tipton was a Samuel Ressler, born about 1790 and also John S.
Ressler born in 1802. If anyone has any information on the connection
between these Resslers, please let me know. Our family assumed that John S.
and Abraham were brothers ... it even says so in the book Tipton County Her
Land and People. Although possible, that would have been a 18 year
difference in age. Just a thought but it seems more likely that Abraham and
Jacob could have been the sons of Samuel and Samuel and John S. were
brothers.
Also, I have located a picture of John S. Ressler if anyone is interested
just let me know.
Please let me know if anyone has information on this family.
Thanks! Linda

Madison Township, Feb. 17th, 1882, Obituary
Another of the old landmarks has been visited by the relentless
foe of Adams race, (Death), and has gone to his long home beyond the skies.
Abraham Ressler departed this life Feb. 16th, 1882. The
deceased was born in Berps (Berks) county, Pa., July 20th, 1820. In the
year 1843 the deceased came to Tipton county, Ind., where he resided until
the fall of 1854, when he moved to the state of Minn., where he lived till
the spring of 1868, when he again moved to Tipton county, Ind., where he
resided until called to his home above on the date above mentioned. Abraham
Ressler was married Dec. 25th, 1845, to a young lady by the name of Jane
Letsinger, daughter of Philip Letsinger, of Madison township, Tipton Co.,
Ind., who still survives him. There was born to them nine children, all of
whom are living and was present at the funeral. Mr. Ressler had been a
member of the M. E. Church since 1850. A funeral discourse was delivered at
the residence of the deceased before starting for the cemetery, by the Rev.
Thomas Elkin, of Elwood, Ind. who chose for his text the 15th verse of the
29th chapter of Revelations. It was a very appropriate and interesting
discourse. Thus, another old pioneer has gone to that land from which no
one has ever yet returned. A loving husband, a kind father, a good neighbor
and an honest Christian man, has gone to receive his reward in Heaven.
A Neighbor.
