Surname: Batzner, Metsger, Smith, Kramer, Chapman, Kelly, Hudson, Blomer,
Gall
-------------------------
The Fredrick Batzner Sr. family came from Hallwangen in Wurtemburg Germany.
In 1837, Frederick took his family to the seaport Bremen, and sailed to
America on the ship S.S. Chipola. They landed at Philadelphia on July 3,
together with the family of Johannes Geo Batzner (maybe a brother?) They
then travelled to Franklin County Indiana, arriving in September. His occupation
on the ship's list was weaver. Johannes was a baker. Fredricks wife was
named Anna Marie, last name unknown. Their children were Michael, who married
Elisabeth Batzner and then Margaret Metzger in 1850. Michael later became
the Sheriff and county treasurer, "Barbary", who married George Smith,
Christena, married Nicholas Kramer, Fredrick Jr, who married Susan Chapman
and then Julia Kelly, John, who married Martha Ann Hudson, Maria E, who
married John Blomer, and Rosean, who married Rapheal Gall. Fredricks wife
Anna Marie and daughter Christena are buried in the Old Cemetery near downtown
Brookville. The last census recorded with Fredrick Batzner Sr, was in 1860,
age 63, living with his daughter Rosean. There is no death record, obituary
or probate record that we know of for Fredrick Batzner Sr. Some of the
family moved to Tipton County. Any information is appreciated.
