Military Services Planned at Windfall for Pfc. Jesse ROGERS.
Windfall, July 28 - Military services have been planned for Pfc. Jesse
E. ROGERS at 2:30 pm. (CDT) Sunday at the Methodist church with Rev. Lincoln
LAHUE, pastor of the Pilgrim Holimess church , in charge. Burial will be
in Brookside cemetery [*Windfall Tipton CO., IN.],. Full military rites
will be executed by the Kokomo American Legion post.
The body of Pfc. ROGERS, will arrive at 2:27 pm. Friday via the Pennsylvania
railroad in Elwood (*Madison Co., IN.), and it will lie in state at the
Prichard Funeral home.
Pfc. ROGERS, 24 , was killed in action in Germany 17 Apr 1945, during World
War II. Located at Schierke, he served with Company G, 27th. infantry division,
with the first army. He entered service in June 1944 and was sent overseas
the following December.
Born 25 Aug 1920, in Vigo Co., IN., near Terre Haute, Pfc. ROGERS was the
son of Mrs. Frank DAVIS (*Minnie Myrtle STOUT, ROGERS, ROGERS, DAVIS),
and the late George (*Anderson)ROGERS. He came to Windfall with his parents
while a young boy.
On 10 June 1939, Pfc. ROGERS married Miss Ellen Louise SMITH. At the time
of his induction, he was engaged in general trucking for Oscar RICHARDS.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving with the widow are three(3) children, Daniel Lee age 8, Patricia
age 6, Joyce Ellen age 4, the mother, Mrs. DAVIS (*Minnie Myrtle STOUT,
ROGERS, ROGERS, DAVIS), three (3) sisters, Mrs. Virgil PORTER, and Mrs.
James W. SMITH of Windfall and Mrs. Don BUCKLEY of Greentown; two (2) brothers,
James ROGERS of Windfall, and John ROGERS of Elwood; one half-sister, Mrs.
May FRIBLEY (*FRIDLEY) of Anderson (*she did not live in Anderson then,
she lived in Middletown Henry Co., IN.); one half-brother, Joe Lewis ROGERS,
LEWIS of Anderson, and the grandmoth...
