JOHN L. ROGERS DIES IN HOSPITAL
John L. [Luther] ROGERS, Sr., 61, 933 North Independence street, died at
3:10 am. today *(have no date of paper copy), at the Robert Long hospital
in Indianaoplis, IN., after an illness of about four (4) months with lymphatic
lukemia.
The body ws brought to Young's Funeral home and will be taken to the ROGERS
home tomorrow where friends may call after 4 pm.. Funeral arrangements
will not be made until word is received from a son, Sam ROGERS, in San
Diego, Calif.
Mr. ROGERS had lived in Tipton Co., IN., for the past 35 years and during
that time was employed by the Nickel Plate railroad. He was a boilermaker
and retired in Sep of the past year.
Born in Windfall, 14 June 1884, Mr. ROGERS was the son of Levi and Nancy
[*MCGUIRE],ROGERS, both of whom died while he was a young boy. His only
brother died five years ago, [*George Anderson ROGERS]
Mr. ROGERS married Julia Frances (KELLY) of near Tipton in 1908 and they
later moved to Tipton. They were the parents of ten (10) children, seven
(7) of whom are living.
Nora Ellen died when small. Mrs. Harry BURRIS of Tipton died in 1941 adn
John ROGERS, S 1/c, was killed in action in 1942.
Survivers beside the widow, include three (3) daughters, Mrs. Joe LANE,
Mrsd. Delma FOWLER, both of Elwood, Madison Co., IN., and Rosella, at home;
four (4) sons, Lester ROGERS, MM 2/c, who is serving in the South Pacific;
Pfc. Leonard ROGERS, in the army general hospital at Danville, KY.; Sam
ROGERS, commissary officer at the naval hospital in San Diego, Calif.,
and Fred, at home; two (2) other children by a former marriage, Joe Lewis
ROGERS, LEWIS of Anderson, Madison Co., IN., and Mrs. Jannie May (*ROGERS),
(*LEWIS), FEDLEY [*FRIDLEY], of Middletown Henry Co., IN.; three (3) grandchildren,
and several nieces adn nephews near Windfall. [*and many nieces and nephews
in Middletown Henry CO., IN., and in Anderson Madison Co., IN.*]

by thier Aunt Marilda STOUT, d/o John A. STOUT and Nancy Jane GARNER, who
married John Wesley LEWIS, and raised them both**].
