Joseph Bright Watseka-The Rev. Joseph Bright, 87, of Watseka, died at 11:30
p.m. Saturday (May 19, 2001) at the Medical Center, Independence, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of the
Nazarene, Danville. The Rev. Jerry Short will officiate. Burial will be
in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, Danville.
Mr. Bright was born September 21, 1913, at Elwood, Indiana, a son of Ambers
G. and Stella Pearl Porter Bright. He married Dorothy Coe on January 9,
1935, in Elwood, Indiana. She died in 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Bright of Honolulu, Charles Bright of
Urbana, and Richard Porter of Palm Coast, Fla;, two daughters, Nila Moore
of Watseka and Joyce Stone of Independence; a sister, Florence Raymond
of Fort Worth, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, six brothers and a sister.
Rev. Bright graduated from God's Bible College in Cincinnati and was ordained
as a Church of the Nazarene minister in 1936. He preached for over 40 years
in Indiana, Illinois, and Canada. he served in Watseka from 1954 to 1964,
Danville from 1966 to 1976 and Wilmington from 1976 to 1979, retiring in
1979. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Danville.
