Not certain I can help you much. George Osler is the eldest Osler in my records. He was born 10 May 1805. A distant relative wrote a Paul Family History in which she referred to George as "being of Scotch Irish descent." His son, George, had a son named Abraham Osler, who married Betsy Paul in Hamilton Co, IN on 18 Nov 1851. Abraham's sister, Mary, married Peter Paul. Peter and Betsy were siblings of my great grandmother, Sarah Paul Redmon. Their father, Samuel Paul, emigrated to Indiana from the Allentown, PA, area, so that may have been the locus of the Osler family as well. I do have information on the descendents of the Paul/Oslers referred to above and would be glad to share anything I have to help you.

Sandra,
I know your message was posted some time ago but hopefully you will get this.
I am, obviously, an Osler from Glasgow, Scotland I am trying to find out more about John Osler (or any other Osler's) in particular who was a soldier in the Union Army.
I want to find out where the Osler's in Pennsylvania originated from. I suspect they came from Scotland.
This for a book I am trying to research. Any help would be gratefully received.
Regards,
Martin.

Seeking information on the surname WARD. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Tipton Co. Has one city that could be called that, Tipton, the county seat.
Population of about 7-8 thousand. The next in size would be Sharpsville
(600-700) or Windfall, simular in size to Sharpsville. There are several
small "clusters" of homes that were called towns at one time but no longer
have a town government structure. The county is highly rual and mostly
farming. Though there is a hosing boom in the northern part of the county as
suburbia spreads from near by Kokomo (Howard Co.).

Hi Bob,
I saw a couple of your emails on the Tipton site that you and your wife were from Prarie
Township. How in the world did you end up in Washington? Also, from looking at your
email address, could your last name be Penningto? I worked with an electrician at Delco
Remy, here in Anderson, Indiana, by the name of Tom(John)Pennington.
Do you know of any of the Brownings living in Tipton County? At least one of the sons,
William Browning, is shown as living in Prarie Township in the 1860 and 1870 Census.
My grandfather lived in Wildcat Township(Windfall). My Dad was born in Windfall, and so
was I. I will be 68 this coming March.
I am having a terrible time trying to find information on some of this family. I realize
this time frame was a little bit before your time, but I cannot pass up a chance that you
may have known about this family.

I found the listing for Jacob and his wife in the Prairieville cemetery
in the Prairie
township Cemetery book plus George their son.
Both of us were born and raised in Prairie township and have extensive
research material on Tipton County. We would be glad to exchange information.
Bob
Prairieville is just one old church that is now owned by a private owner.
The cemetery next door is currently being used but many pioneer burials are
there.
I am a native of Prairie Township, Tipton County and was married there in
the church May 2, 1942. We will soon be celebrating our 60 th anniversary. My
wife is the only member of the church on the roll of membership. She refused
to transfer from the church when it closed.

Tipton, Indiana is the county seat of Tipton. Looking at a township atlas
of Indiana, I don't see any towns of much size, Tipton is by far the
largest, and it is in Cicero Twp. in Tipton Co. Other cities are
Sharpsville in Liberty Twp, Windfall, in Wildcat Twp, and Hobbs, in Madison
Twp. Everything else is in fairly small print on the map.

Sure. The major city in Tipton County is Tipton! It is south and east of
Kokomo and two counties north of Marion County (Indianapolis). There are a
number of small communities in Tipton County, but no other major city.
