CHARLES C. MOORE
The Otterbein community is saddened on account of the death last evening of Charles C.
Moore, one of the most highly esteemed and prosperous farmers of that locality. Mr. Moore
was 45 years old and leaves a widow and three children to whom he was an indulgent, kind
and affectionate husband and father. He died away from his own home, a circumstance
which makes his death sadder to the bereft family.
On last Tuesday he was in Lafayette and complained of feeling bad. In the afternoon he
took the Erie train and went to Otterbein and upon reaching there was too ill to go to his
home, a short distance south of the village. Accepting the invitation of Timmons Bros.
merchants to go to their home, he became worse and continued so until death sealed his
life.
He was univerally admired and no death in that community has been more thoroughly
regretted. This morning funeral services were conducted at the residence where he died
and at 1 o'clock this afternoon his remains were transferred from the Lake Erie train
to the Monon and were taken to Battle Ground, his boyhood home, for interment. He was
reared to manhood in the family of John Wolfer, at Battle Ground, and the latter feels the
loss any father experiences in the death of a son.
