Dottie:
HI, isn't the Andrews line tough to research. I have been at it for 15
years and don't feel like I gain much at all. I don't have an Asa, infact,
haven't come across that one at all.
My Andrews start with Arthur, born 1811, somewhere in OH., Married Sarah
McFeely (b 1815) in Butler Co., OH in 1831. I can not find them in 1840 but
my 2nd great grandfather states on his CW papers that he was born in
Tippecanoe Co., IN. In 1850 and 1860 Arthur and family are living in
Montgomery Co., IN and by 1870 they are living in Page Co., IA. After
ARthur dies, Sarah and most of the children (who are grown) move on to NE.
Their children are Eliza, John, Sarah, Susan, Lydia, Joel (my line) Henry,
Mary Catherine, David C. Clarissa, Julia, James. (I see you also had a
David C.) Susan, Henry, and David C., all died within a few weeks of each
other. Must have been an epedemic. Assoc. lines are Scott, Hunt,
Rosencranz, Boomhhour, Wray, Downing, Curtis, Butler, Menefee, Earl,
Corbett.
I don't see any connections between the two families but will keep your line
on file. If you see any connection, please let me know. At this point I
think that perhaps Arthur was an alien or just hatched. I can't find
parents for him anywhere.
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I am researching Asa Andrews (1827-1870). The census says he was born in
Indiana, but I don't know where. He first shows up in Hamilton, in
Clinton
County, marrying Margaret Ann Kyger there on September 13, 1849.
That
same
year he joined the Dayton Presbyterian Church across the line in
Tippecanoe
County, and began farming in Sheffield Township south of Dayton. He
is
buried in the Wyandotte Cemetery there. As far as I know, he had only two
children, a son David C. Andrews who died in infancy, and a daughter Jane
Catherine (Jennie) Andrews who married William H. Hill, M.D., and was my
great-grandmother. Family tradition says his ancestors were Scotch-Irish,
but I know nothing more about them.
Are you researching Andrews also? Do you have any Asa in your family
tree?
By the way, just to confuse things, he also spelled his first name
Asel,
and
spelled his last name Andrew, without the final "s,"
sometimes. His
tombstone says "Asa Andrews," though.
