Here's what I have on Moses Rush:
According to the biography of his son-in-law, Peter B. Smith (who married Sarah R.
Rush in Tippecanoe Co. in 1858), Moses Rush settled on a farm in Tippecanoe Twp.,
Tippecanoe Co., IN, in 1831. He fathered 9 children. His daughter, Sarah, was
born in Darke Co., OH. "In politics MOSES RUSH was a Democrat. He was a prominent
man in his township, and held the office of justice of the peace for many years.
He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and served as
class-leader a number of years. MR. SMITH is a member of the Methodist Episcopal
church, and in his political views he affiliates with the Democratic party."
In the 1820 census for Washington Twp., Darke Co., OH, Moses Rush is living
alongside of Silas Simpkins. Both families evidently came from Pickaway County,
Oh to Darke County, then on to Tippecanoe County, IN. Perhaps he is related to
Francis Rush, of Hampshire County, VA, who married Nancy Greenwade and settled in
Darby Twp. of Pickaway County, OH about 1808. An
ancestry.com family file says
that Moses is the son of Henry Rush (d. 18 Dec. 1815, Pickaway Co. OH ) and Sarah
Steed.

From the Old Settlers article:
"South of Tippecanoe river,
on the borders of Pretty prairie, there was a
settlement in early times, composed of the following families, viz: William
Kendall, Moses Rush, Moots, Philip Runnels, Becker, Marquis and
Samuel Starret. Further south, between Pretty prairie and Prophets town,
lived James Shaw, John Burget, Peleg Babcock, John Shaw, John
Roberts, John S. Forgey, Thomas Watson, and Flemings. North of these
thinly settled neighborhoods; there was a wide, unbroken wilderness..."
