This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the
insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just
thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE:
I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no
index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

Surnames in this biography are: DAVIDSON, Claybough, Johnson,
EDWARD C. DAVIDSON, surgeon, is a native of La Fayette, and it was to that city that
he returned after his preparation and training in medical college and hospitals, and
there for nearly forty years has been one of the most valued and esteemed
representatives of his profession. Doctor Davidson was born in La Fayette January
30, 1867. The Davidson family came originally from Scotland and there were three brothers
who settled in Kentucky in pioneer times. The Davidson’s in Kentucky for many years were
slave owners and planters, but subsequently freed their slaves. Doctor Davidson’s father
was Robert P. Davidson, who was born in Nicholas County, Kentucky, October 6, 1826. He was
a graduate of Center College of Kentucky, was with the teaching staff of that school until
1851, previously attended Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, qualified for the law, and for
a long period of years was one of the outstanding members of the legal fraternity!
at La Fayette. In 1851 he began practice at Frankfort, Indiana, moving from there to La
Fayette in October, 1863. He was an enthusiastic admirer and follower of Abraham Lincoln
and made speeches all over Indiana for the rail-splitter and in Lincoln’s second campaign
was a candidate for elector. He served on the draft board in Clinton County. Judge
Davidson married Jennie S. Claybough, of Oxford, Ohio, daughter of Joseph Claybough, who
was dean of the theological school of Miami University. Edward C. Davidson was the
youngest in a family of seven children. He attended public school at La Fayette, completed
a course in pharmacy at Purdue University and went to the medical school of the University
of Michigan, graduating M. D. in 1891. From the fall of 1891 to the spring of 1892 he was
in Chicago as assistant professor of the Chicago Polyclinic. He then returned to La
Fayette, where for thirty-eight years he has been devoted to his chosen line of work. He

own for his skill as a surgeon He has served on the surgical staff of St. Elizabeth
Hospital for thirty-five years and has also been on the surgical staff of the home
hospital since it was founded. Doctor Davidson is a member of the American College of
Surgeons, and also belongs to the Tippecanoe County, Indiana State and American Medical
Associations. On November 9, 1918, during the war, he was commissioned a member of the
Medical Reserve Corps. Doctor Davidson is affiliated with Lodge No. 123 of the Masonic
fraternity and the B. P. 0. Elks. Nominally a Republican, he frequently votes without
respect to parties. He is a member of the La Fayette Club. Well known for his
abilities as a surgeon, Doctor Davidson also enjoys the reputation of having been
ready in response to demands upon his time and work in many community
undertakings. He married Miss Loretta Johnson, a native of La Fayette, now deceased. He
has one daughter, Miss Dorothea.
